Point-source carbon capture from sustainable sources

Om oss

Carbon Centric develops a carbon capture platform with a "CCU first, CCS second" approach, to accelerate the establishment of capture capacity. Together with our experienced partners we provide certified and proven technology - today. We focus on point-source carbon capture from waste- and bio incinerators and make their green energy production, even greener. We are a project originator that puts together projects spanning the entire carbon capture value chain. We develop projects with CO2 emitters, CO2 off-takers, CO2 storage operators, and other companies seeking negative emissions.

  • Safety first in Carbon Centric!   As we build our carbon capture facility in Rakkestad, safety remains our top priority. Recently, we conducted an emergency drill that put our procedures to the test. We used a scenario where an employee slips on the ice and loses consciousness. Our drill covered every step - from calling emergency services, to a debrief in our site office where we reviewed our internal procedures, and finally to compiling a fictional incident report and a root cause analysis to ensure the incident does not reoccur.   This exercise not only helped us identify areas for improvement, but also reinforced our commitment to creating a safe working environment for everyone on site. Continuous learning and preparedness are key as we strive to prevent incidents before they occur!   #SafetyFirst #CarbonCapture #WorkplaceSafety #Sustainability #CCUS #BECCS

  • 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱: 𝗔 𝐜𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝐠𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. Carbon capture can be quite complex for those without prior experience in the field. And when we start talking about 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 (𝐂𝐂𝐒) and mix in terms like 𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐂𝐒, 𝐃𝐀𝐂𝐒, 𝐂𝐃𝐑, 𝐕𝐂𝐌, 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐢𝐞𝘀 etc., things don’t exactly get easier. Yet, understanding these concepts is crucial for 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐅𝐎𝐬, especially those working toward 𝐧𝐞𝐭-𝐳𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 or similar targets. For most, reaching net zero will require both CO₂ reduction and CO₂ removal, often through the purchase of CDR credits. While there are many experts writing about this topic, we’ve aimed to simplify it by creating a clear and accessible 𝐂𝐃𝐑 𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐝𝐞—breaking down the key principles and terminology around carbon removal and carbon credits. These frameworks are essential for ensuring consistency, transparency, and trust across the value chain. 𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳? 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Frameworks and methodologies developed by both public institutions, such as the CRCF from the EU, and private organizations, like those from Verra, Isometric, and Puro.earth, establish the rules for calculating carbon credits. These frameworks and methodologies address critical factors such as additionality, permanence, sustainability and leakage. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Included are also rules for monitoring/measuring, reporting, and verifying (MRV), ensuring credits represent real and verifiable Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR). By ensuring this, methodologies build trust with investors, buyers, and regulators. 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Integrity frameworks and best practice guidelines, such as ICVCM, ICROA or VCMI, also play an important role in maintaining trust in carbon markets. Global frameworks, such as IPCC guidelines, help harmonize CDR efforts with climate policies and enable cross-border scalability. By setting clear standards for credit quality, transparency, and climate impact, these programs further ensure that carbon projects are aligned with global climate goals. As demand for CDR grows, the interplay between robust methodologies and emerging carbon markets will be critical for fostering sustainable growth and global impact.🌱 #CDR #CarbonCapture #CarbonRemoval #CRCF #CDRMethodologies #Geologicalstorage

  • 🌍 𝗘𝗨'𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 On February 6 2024, the European Commission presented a strategy for industrial carbon management, explicitly mentioning collaboration with Norway. In order to reach net zero CO2 emissions by 2050, the EU will need to capture at least 50 million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2030, and around 280 million tonnes by 2040. The three key areas of the strategy are: • 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 • 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 • 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 The strategy focuses on promoting a regulatory and investment framework to advance CCS and CCU technologies. The action points include developing policy options, establishing rules for accounting and preparation of a regulatory framework, market design and infrastructure planning mechanism. The importance of securing both private and public funding is emphasized. Norway is mentioned as one of four countries pioneering the geological storage of CO2 on an industrial scale. For Norway, this strategy offers opportunities to align with EU goals, expand our CCS and CCU efforts, and help shape a unified carbon market. • 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗖𝗗𝗥- 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀?  For some, the Milkywire 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱 can be part of the answer. We have applied 🤞, have you? Even if you get state support, the sale of a significant amount of CDRs will be essential to finance a carbon capture and storage project. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱: • Huge CAPEX investments needed to build capture plants. • Lengthy and complex CDR sales processes. • Infrastructure gaps for transporting liquefied CO2 sustainably. • Limited storage access for smaller projects and volumes. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱: • Governments need to expand support to include small businesses    and CCUS projects. • More storage operators must take FID and unlock access also for    smaller project sizes. • State support or state initiated infrastructure initiatives  • Companies and investors should invest in CDR already today,    securing real CCUS project execution and thereby secure crucial    CDR availability when demand really sets in. This is why the    Milkywire approach, which funds pioneering projects essential for    achieving global net zero, is so important and sends powerful    signals to the market. But most of all, the whole value chain has cooperate to build trust and transparency, together💚 #CarbonCapture #CCUS #BECCS

Takk for lærerike dager. Jeg ser frem til å fortsette arbeidet med bærekraft! 🌱
