On Wednesday Nov 6 Cenate's CEO Erik Sauar will present our new and industrially available nanostructured silicon materials for batteries at the last FME MoZEES conference in Oslo. These are materials that will now make it possible to strongly increase the energy density of tomorrow's batteries, and cut emissions and costs, without taking on the typical problems of higher cathode costs or costly and cumbersome pre-Lithiation.

A great congratulation to our strong partner and co-owner, Vianode, who today is opening the first full scale graphite production plant in Norway - with anode materials for EV batteries! We in Cenate AS wish you all the best and good luck with ramping up the new plant - and building more. With so many competent people, like Burkhard Straube, Hans Erik Vatne, Stian Madshus, Bridget Deveney, Andreas Forfang and Gunstein Skomedal to mention a few, this looks very promising.
We are just about to celebrate the opening of our first full scale production plant in Herøya, Norway. Stay tuned this week. Already last week, we had a visit of the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie Myrseth. Thank you, Cecilie, for your time, interest and your support in scaling new Norwegian clean-tech manufacturing with global reach.

I panelet: - Harald Solberg (Norsk Industri) - Tore O. Sandvik (statssekretær Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries) - Erik Sauar (Cenate AS) - Nils Klippenberg (Siemens) - Thina Margrethe Saltvedt Saltvedt (Nordea) Se mer informasjon om arrangementet under

Cenate is today proud to announce that the company has successfully scaled its manufacturing process for its new and proprietary silicon nano composites to commercial scale. – We now consider that the largest scale-up risks are behind us, and are preparing to deliver large, industrial-scale test batches to multiple customers in the coming year, says Cenate CEO Erik Sauar. A big thank you goes to our funding sources and collaboration partners in Innovation Norway, Norges forskningsråd, Nysnø Climate Investments, Must Invest, Fred Olsen, DYNATEC, Institute for Energy Technology, SINTEF, Onsagers AS and Vianode. #siliconanode #batterymaterials #electricvehicles, #batteries

Development of new world leading battery technology is not only about technology. It is also about people. Highly competent people from nearly all continents coming together in advanced collaboration. And often in a very different climate from “back home”. Nearly half of Cenate’s team are coming from other countries, and many have never learnt to ski, skate, make snow angels, drive a sleigh or all the other fun you can do with and on snow. At the same time there will be parts of the Norwegians in the team that love and master all kinds of winter sports, but also some that don’t. In last year's winter activities our Italian organic chemist broke her leg in downhill sleigh riding in Oslo's famous Korketrekker'n while screaming that she yet had more surface coatings to do in order to complete her job task. So how could we do something fun together in the the snow this year, but avoid broken legs..... ? And give everybody at least a taste of why many Norwegians love their winter? At Den Norske Turistforening's Finse hut we found a great solution. We could work together in the morning, split into 3-4 different teams for winter activities in the afternoon, and come together again in the evening. Luckily, the weather was fantastic for the people who learnt to ski for the very first time in their life, and they all got their first kilometers passed with joy and excitement. The same great weather (without wind) wasn’t equally good for the group that had prepared for snow sailing. They had to replace a half day of snow sailing with avalanche rescue training instead. But for the mountain ski groups again, it was great. As a side benefit we could also introduce our new Norwegians to the huge network of about 400 DNT cabins all over Norway - and that everybody can use against a fairly moderate payment. Not all our employees were able to join. Not all got into these photos, but as in the Norwegian saying "All agreed that it had been a great tour."

A Cenate silicon anode production plant will directly reduce global CO2 emissions by 15 million tons during 10 years of operation. Taking the indirect gains into account an additional 22 million tons may be saved. In sum this is close to the whole of Norway's total CO2 emissions in a year. It's a massive saving - now estimated and documented by Nysnø Climate Investments - and we will do our absolute best to make it happen as soon as possible! #batterymaterials #sustainablebatterymaterial

Fantastic news ! We are both proud and humble to announce that today we have received a 225 MNOK grant from Norway for our participation in an Important Project of Common European Interest. These funds will be used to further develop and industrialise our silicon-based battery materials in collaboration with leading European battery producers. They will also be used to establish Europe’s first 3 GWh pilot production of Cenate’s new silicon nano composite anode materials. Big thanks to Innovation Norway and Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries. Congratulations to the three other grant winners Vianode, Morrow Batteries and Beyonder.
