Powering the Future of Sustainable Industry in Kongsvinger! Today Bård Tronvoll and David Sörhammar participated in a workshop arranged by Klosser Innovasjon, on smart energy solutions, bringing together local industry and experts to explore smarter, greener energy use. The workshop is part of the "Industrial Development and Efficient Use of the Power System" research project, supported by the Regional Research Fund (RFF). The goal? To enhance energy access for local industries by: 🔋 Using existing energy infrastructure more efficiently 🤝 Boosting collaboration between companies and energy providers 🌱 Adopting AI, green energy, and smart grid technology The focus was on solutions to cut energy consumption and peak loads, enabling industrial "smart grids". Last week at NEON-dagene 2025 in Tromsø, Petter Braathen hosted a track on emergent properties in organizations and presented recent work with Bård Tronvoll on emergence in service ecosystems; and Johan Kask shared ongoing research with INN colleague Anna Sörensson exploring how distrust from high cognitive distance impacts relationships between nature-based business entrepreneurs (e.g., farm and forest owners) and formal advisory systems (e.g. incubators, Science Parks), and how this gap can be bridged. Thanks to the UiT- The Arctic University of Norway for a well-organized event!

Last week Gabriel Linton and Johan Kask attended RENT 2024 in Nantes 🇫🇷 RENT is a conference organized every year in Europe for researchers to discuss entrepreneurship research 📚📝 Gabriel and Johan presented their research about involving students as entrepreneurs in a research project through a "business model lab". In the lab the students worked as entrepreneurs to explore and test business models based on results from a research project involving industry partners. This lab offered companies new and creative perspectives, students had a chance to gain real-world experience, and the researchers collaborated to translate academic research into industry solutions. The research discussed the dynamics of co-creation and the potential for universities to contribute to innovation through student-led entrepreneurial initiatives, such as a business model lab. The conference provided feedback on the research, new ideas, as well as new connections that can be useful for CREDS future projects.

Petter Braathen and Johan Kask are back home after an eventful visit at Rennes School of Business, CREDS’ strategic partner and co-host of our double-degree PhD program. This visit was made possible through travel grants from the Erasmus+ program. During their stay, Johan and Petter presented ongoing projects, worked on a joint EU funding application, held meetings on managing and developing the PhD program, and exchanged knowledge and experiences with Rennes scholars who recently secured a major Horizon grant—among many other activities. Rennes is a beautiful city, and we look forward to returning soon and welcoming their faculty to Kongsvinger. Big shout out to new and old friends at RSB for organizing the visit: Claire-Lise Ackermann, Petya Puncheva, Dermot Breslin, Sarah Hudson, Christèle Wright, Dirk Schneckenberg, Laurent Scaringella and many more! 🙌 🇫🇷😍🇳🇴

PHD student Kelsey needs your help! Kelsey Kristine Tisthammer joined CREDS as a PhD student in January 2023. She has a master's degree in environmental psychology and her research explores how external factors can shape people's food choices. Kelsey hopes to identify ways to encourage people to take more sustainable decisions by understanding how these factors influence food choices. To make this important research happen, she needs your help by answering her survey (in Norwegian) Here is the message from Kelsey: «Har du 10 minutter å avse til å svare på en liten spørreundersøkelse?

Recycling, or? ♻️❓ Yesterday, Martin Hanssen visited the team at SCHÜTZ Nordic AS to lead a reflection course on circular economy. During the session, they discussed facts and shared practical examples to illustrate how circular strategies can be applied. The team explored different approaches to circular resource use, discussing ways to reduce waste, enhance reuse, and optimize recycling efforts. The course ended with a hands-on workshop, where participants collaboratively mapped out Schütz Nordic's unique "circle" to visualize what they do. For us at CREDS, it very inspiring to work with local companies like Schütz Nordic, who are committed to advancing both their sustainability and circular practices!

Last Friday, Vojtěch Klézl and Johan Kask from CREDS finished their mini tour across Portugal and Spain by joining the European Energy Poverty Advisory Hub's (EPAH) international conference in Barcelona. The event featured productive panel discussions, engaging workshops, and presentations from ongoing projects. This variety led to many opportunities for knowledge sharing across research, policy, and practice, and hopefully several new connections for upcoming projects. EPAH, hosted by Climate Alliance and supported by the EU, is an important platform for local actions that tackles energy poverty across Europe. It aims "to combat energy poverty in Europe by providing direct support, online trainings, and research results and by building a collaborative network of stakeholders interested in taking action". We are proud to be part of the JUST PEPP project alongside such partners. 🙌 #EnergyPoverty #Sustainability #EPAHconf24
