We need to stop this violence and protect women. Our goal is to reduce false convictions, safeguard vulnerable individuals and children involved in crime, and ensure equal access to justice for all in line with #SDG16. Looking at data from various regions of the world, the number of convictions that follow relationship violence differ hugely depending on legal systems, reporting practices and data availability. As an example, Looking at New South Wales in Australia 🇦🇺 75% of domestic violence homicide cases resulted in a conviction. For Brazil 🇧🇷 and South-Africa 🇿🇦 the conviction rate for gender-based violence cases, including domestic homicides, is estimated to be around 8%. Technology can ensure the integrity and accountability of investigations. This approach strengthens justice systems, upholds civil rights, and supports the creation of inclusive institutions dedicated to fair and transparent legal proceedings.
