#RenewableGases are necessary for the #decarbonization of industry. Marked-based systems are also essential to this process. We support the signatories of this open letter and join the call on the GHG Protocol to: 1) Adopt a market-based approach for renewable gases in #Scope1 inventory, for both fuel and feedstock applications. This approach could be part of the dual-reporting structure which includes both the location-based and market-based approach. 2) Issue an interim statement in the first half of 2025 confirming that robust market instruments will be recognized in GHG inventories, offering clarity and confidence for stakeholders as final standards are being developed. The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard as an important tool for companies all over the world to structure their decarbonization efforts. Now the standard has an opportunity to further boost corporate climate action.

Can we improve the #GuaranteesOfOrigin market? Join Ivar Munch Clausen at the REC Market Meeting to discuss how we could increase the #impact of energy tracking systems in Europe. Ivar has over a decade of expertise in the #renewableenergy sector, with a career spanning roles at NVE, the Norwegian energy regulator, Statnett, the Norwegian transmission system operator and GO issuing body, and Ecohz. We are looking forward to hearing the panel's thoughts on: Is the current approach of making incremental improvements in Europe's renewable energy markets enough? How can we achieve their potential? Hope to see you there!

#Biomethane can play a significant role in the transition to a #netzero European economy. But to fully realise its potential, we must remove barriers for trade and create a market that works for all. As members of the European Biogas Association, we support this Biomethane Offtakers Declaration. Increasing market integration and unifying policies across Member States could allow more businesses to choose #renewablegas and help the EU reach its 2030 targets. In particular, it is necessary to: - Recognise #GuaranteesofOrigin and sustainability certificates within European and international GHG emissions reporting - Remove administrative and market barriers to corporate BPAs, allowing offtakers, such as industries, transport and heating, to transition to renewable gases with greater ease. - Ensure a well-functioning internal market for renewable gases removing technical barriers to EU cross-border 📢 Join us in supporting this initiative! Leading biomethane offtakers have come together in the Biomethane Offtakers Declaration, released today, to call for higher support for biomethane production and offtake. Led by the European Biogas Association, this initiative emphasises biomethane’s essential role in achieving Europe’s climate neutrality objectives while ensuring the continent’s global competitiveness. Why it matters? Biogas and biomethane are key solutions for the decarbonisation of EU industries, offering the most cost-effective and scalable renewable energy sources available today. Produced locally, these renewable gases enhance energy security, reduce emissions, and position Europe as a global leader in sustainable and competitive technologies. What is this about? The Declaration brings together major biomethane offtakers committed to working alongside policymakers and the supply chain to drive sustainable production, rapid scaling, and widespread adoption of biomethane across Europe. Building on the momentum of the 2021 Biomethane Declaration, which helped secure the REPowerEU target of 35 bcm of biomethane production per year by 2030, this new initiative shifts the focus towards strengthening demand. What’s next? To unlock the full potential of biomethane, the Joint Offtakers Declaration on Sustainable Biomethane for Europe's Green Transition outlines key actions: 1️⃣ Establish Long-Term Targets and Supportive Frameworks 2️⃣ Enable Market-Driven Solutions 3️⃣ Ensure Political and Institutional Support This initiative will remain open for additional signatories to endorse the Declaration. For more information or to get involved, visit https://lnkd.in/e_g6hW_T 📌 Download the Declaration: https://lnkd.in/eJsjkSmZ 📌 Visit the website for more information on the declaration and its signatories: https://lnkd.in/e8eyrcxm 📌 Download the full press release: https://lnkd.in/ezRxRyZ7 #biometane #CleanIndustrialDeal #NetZero #BiomethaneOfftakersDeclaration

Exciting news for the clean energy sector in the US! A new report by the Clean Energy Buyers Association (CEBA) and Wood Mackenzie projects a massive surge in corporate demand for carbon emissions-free energy, reaching at least 275 GW by 2035! That's equivalent to about one-fifth of the total installed electricity generating capacity in the US today. This demand is fueled by growth in the tech and manufacturing sectors, particularly data centers, with an expected 7% compound annual growth rate in electricity demand. Key Takeaways: Driving Load Demand: Tech and manufacturing are leading the charge. Regional Hotspots: ERCOT, PJM, and MISO will continue to be strong, with the Southeast and West emerging as key growth areas. Transmission Bottlenecks: Inefficient transmission buildout is slowing progress. The report emphasizes the need for proactive transmission planning to meet this demand and unlock economic opportunities. As Rich Powell, CEO of CEBA, highlights, grid modernization is crucial for energy and economic dominance. This report is a vital indicator for grid operators and planners, highlighting the impact of corporate #cleanenergy procurement on grid operations. #RenewableEnergy #CorporateSustainability https://lnkd.in/g-ntXgjQ

Last year, Europe experienced a record number of hours with negative electricity prices. How is this rising trend being considered in the pricing of #PowerPurchaseAgreements? You can read the article here: https://lnkd.in/gHMNPxqi We explain why negative price hours occur, why they are now affecting the models of #renewable PPAs, and what kinds of savings off-takers can expect from including them in calculations. We also talked to Katinka Bogaard, Managing Director at Volt Power Analytics, about the countries that could see the most impact and the role #energystorage could play in the mid-term.
