⚡🤖 As an AI expert in Equinor, Olav Landstad has perhaps one of Norway’s most exciting jobs. For Equinor, as one of the biggest global energy players, using AI to work towards resolving the trilemma of climate, affordability, and security, is already in process. ❝I’m convinced it will play an increasingly important role. Our industry is entirely dependent on finding new ways of working to secure both our own success, but also to secure safe and effective operations for the future. To be able to this, we need to make sure we’re doing the right things, at the right time. That’s where the role of artificial intelligence comes into play❞, comments Olav. ➡️ You can read the full interview with him here: https://lnkd.in/gJevjNNJ #AI #artificialintelligence #designdriveninnovation #energysector (Image credits: Equinor)

🔑 Key take aways from UD2024 (Universal Design Conference) are out! Our inclusion experts, Cathrine Einarsson and Susanne Harder, together with digital designer Chris Milne, share their key takeaways from the event: https://lnkd.in/dR3Xh5fE In short: 1️⃣ Step out of the office and into reality - You can’t fully predict what kind of disability or vulnerability your users might experience. It’s essential to test and prototype your service or product together with real people. 2️⃣ Move away from the visual experience - We often lean way too much on the visual experience, which is what should come last. 3️⃣ Watch out for AI and tech biases - AI (Artificial Intelligence) per definition favours the idea of the normative. Hence, everything that differs will be marked as the odd one out, favouring the majority. 4️⃣ The 2030 agenda for sustainable development - If we manage to embed the universal design principles in policy making, we have a highly effective approach to reduce inequalities, promoting social inclusion and ensuring accessibility. 5️⃣ The role of the designer - Designers are primary in creating the human context, which means we have enormous power to change it. Here, co-design is key. 👨👨👧👦 UD2024 is hosted by Bufdir (The Norwegian Directorate for Children, Youth and Family Affairs) and is the seventh conference in a series of biennial international conferences on Universal Design. #universaldesign #digitalinclusion #inclusivedesign #UD2024

We love this! 😍 In this project, EGGS has helped Save the Children Norway develop illustrations for the project 'The Magical Classroom'. 🌎 The digital educational resource is designed for grades 5-10 and focuses on the theme of climate and environment. In this collaborative project we designed illustrations that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 👩🏼🤝👨🏿 The illustrations are created to reflect diversity and inclusion, especially highlighting children with disabilities and children from indigenous, refugee, and minority groups. ➡️ You can read more about the project on our website: https://lnkd.in/dUdF2nXD Which illustration is your favourite? 🤩

Key take aways from EHiN 2024! Our Head of Health, Julia Edin, participated in this year's EHiN conference - Norways largest meeting place for health digitalisation. Here are a few of her key insights: 🤖 AI on the agenda: AI was, to no surprise, a hot topic at EHiN. There is a big, untapped potential for how artificial intelligence can be used to make health and welfare effective, for example when it comes to documentation. 🏥 Preparing for the worst: We need to consider worst-case scenarios to build resilience and robustness into the system. As concrete examples, we must design solutions that will keep us safe even if we lose access to the Internet, power or emergency numbers. 💭 The role of design: The health and welfare sectors are facing numerous complex challenges in the near future - big and small. Design will be, and is, essential in approaching this problem-solving. ➡️ Interested in the topic? In her latest article, Julia shares her key take aways from the event. Say hello to: Katarina Westerheim, Digital Designer, Oslo Whoop, whoop – join us in a warm welcome of Katarina! 🤗 She has previous experience from the consulting world, both as UX/UI designer and project manager, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and Interactive Design from Kristiania University College. Katarina is driven by a strong sense of responsibility to use her role as a designer to represent people – to ensure inclusion and to create products and services that make everyday life a little easier for those who use them. She’s a kick ass organiser (for “everything but her own closet”, in her own words), and has a knack for making sense out of complexity. When Katarina takes a break from designer life, she continues creative – she loves making craft and spends many hours knitting, doing embroideries, paintings, or her newfound passion – lino printing. Whenever she gets the chance, she takes the chance to experience new things, whether it’s places, music, art or nature. Katarina – we’re so lucky to have you on the team! Welcome to EGGS ❤️ #newcolleague #PeopleinEGGS #digitaldesigner

🎉 Whoop, whoop! We are proud to share that Twiceme Technology, together with Lead Designer in EGGS Sweden, Pelle S. have won a BLT Built Design Awards in the Construction Product Design category! 🤩 👷♀️ Twiceme integrates smart technology into equipment that helps people both before and after an incident. Over the past year, Twiceme has stepped into the construction sector, making it possible to integrate NFC technology into safety equipment on construction sites. 👷♀️ The focus has been on designing features based on real needs, which now means that features like Medical ID, work documents, and inspections are available to improve safety on worksites. A big congratulations to the Twiceme team! 🏆

How do you succeed with digital inclusion? 🤓 Our digital inclusion expert Cathrine Einarsson shares five steps in her latest article: 1️⃣ Identify the barriers and the transitions. The transitions between different touch points must be smooth. In reality, they are often anything but. 2️⃣ Save resources by getting it right from the start. By prioritising inclusion from the start, we make things a lot easier for ourselves – and the user. 3️⃣ Take a systemic approach. Digital vulnerability is an example of a systemic issue - it is not something that can be solved by a team alone - it needs to be solved at an organisational level, or even across organisations and sectors. 4️⃣ Distribute the responsibility for inclusion. To get to the root of the problem, it’s essential to distribute the responsibility for inclusion throughout the organisation. 5️⃣ Act now – take a leading position. Last, but not least –don’t wait! Take the lead and pave the way for others to follow. ➡ You can read the Cathrine's full article on our website. ➡ Interested in hearing more from Cathrine on inclusion? Tune in to NRK P2's radio show 'Helgemorgen' this Sunday, 10 am CET! (NB - in Norwegian). Together with Karianne Tung, Norway's Minister of Digitalisation and Public Governance, she will be discussing the importance of digital inclusion and accessibility in today's society.

👩💼 Service Designer Cathrine Einarsson’s main driver is her wish to make society more inclusive. To make that happen, she believes we must question how we define inclusion. We need to look at it as something much broader than accessibility: 𖧹 "Often, when discussing inclusive design, we limit ourselves to accessibility from a technical point of view. That is, designing physical and digital products and services that meet directives and standards that people with and without disabilities can use. But we miss the point when we see inclusion only through this lens," she comments in our interview with her. 𖧹 Making things work in real life is what Cathrine is all about. To her, it's not about making the perfect service blueprint, but helping organisations understand their users needs, and deliver on those expectations. ➡ You can read the full interview with Cathrine on our website. ➡ Interested in hearing more from Cathrine on inclusion?
