Two weeks ago, we had the pleasure of attending a lecture by Alf Kristian Lund from NGI - Norwegian Geotechnical Institute at Geoteknikkdagen. In it, he highlighted the value of integrating cutting-edge technology with traditional geoscience methods. His insights demonstrated how our technology and dynamic model are reshaping the future of ground investigations. A great example of this innovative approach was demonstrated in the E6 Kvithammar-Åsen project: Helicopter-Based Geoscanning in Action 🚁 During the zoning plan phase, helicopter-based geoscanning was combined with traditional investigation methods to strategically position ground investigations and continuously refine the bedrock model using machine learning algorithms. Key takeaways from the project include: 💡Project Scope: Developing a 19 km four-lane highway northeast of Trondheim to improve traffic safety and reduce travel time. 💡Innovative Approach: Integrating airborne electromagnetics (AEM) with geophysical and traditional data creates a dynamic, continuously updated bedrock model. 💡Cost Savings: Optimizing road alignment and reducing extensive investigations led to savings of approximately 250 MNOK. 💡Collaboration: Success was driven by the partnership between Nye Veier, Hæhre Entreprenør, and NGI/Aas Jakobsen. Exploring New Horizons in Geophysical Surveys with Airborne TEM Technology 🚁 At EMerald we are constantly at the forefront of innovation. Recently, we successfully tested an Airborne Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) system in Denmark, utilizing a heavy-lift drone to carry out advanced geophysical surveys. This innovative experiment demonstrates that drone-mounted TEM systems are both practical and have several important benefits for the industry: 💡 Efficiency: By covering more ground in less time, conducting TEM surveys from the air significantly increases data gathering speed and efficiency. 🌍 Environmental Impact: Drone-based surveys are more environmentally friendly than traditional methods because they require less heavy machinery and cause less disturbance to the land. 📍 Expanded Reach: Drones can access challenging and remote locations, making previously hard-to-reach areas available for precise subsurface mapping. This breakthrough was recently presented by SkyTEM at the Near Surface Geoscience (NSG) 2024 conference in Helsinki, where experts gathered to discuss the future of geophysical surveys and technology advancements. Collaborating for Infrastructure Innovation! We are proud to announce our participation in the Tunneling & Infrastructure workshop hosted by Innovation Norway Asia and the Middle East at Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi. With over 140 years of expertise, Norwegian engineers have led the global construction of some of the most complex tunnels and underground projects. This workshop focused on bringing these cutting-edge solutions to India, a country on the path to becoming one of the top three economies in the world through ambitious infrastructure projects. Our CEO, Andi A Pfaffhuber, delivered a presentation on advanced engineering geophysics solutions, focusing on airborne geoscanning and infrastructure planning. This event provided a platform for exchanging knowledge and maintaining industry cooperation between Norway and India. We thank Asheesh Agarwal for hosting this stimulating event, and to Minister Counsellor Martine Aamdal Bottheim and Innovation Norway Country Director Cristian Valdes Carter for their inspiring opening remarks.
