Cruise The Olsen Way

Om oss

We believe that there is another way to cruise. A way that is based on five generations of seafaring. Where cabins are called cabins, and ships look like ships. Where the journey is as important as the destination. In our world, smaller is better, and we believe in keeping the experience on board uncrowded, warm and civilised - treating passengers as guests, like the family-run business we are. It would be easy to follow the trends and go with the crowds. But we never will Because this is our way, The Olsen Way. Our smaller ships carry fewer passengers, so our crew can get to know each of our guests. Each area, venue and cabin has been hand-crafted by our creative teams and our Chairman Fred. Olsen Jnr, to ensure each space is elegantly designed to make you feel relaxed and at home the moment you step on board. There's no comparison to discovering the world on a Fred. Olsen ship.

  • Last December, our smallest ship Balmoral went in to dry dock in Falmouth with A&P Group Limited for a two-week programme of maintenance 🛳️ To bring the experience to life, we invited TV presenter Nick Knowles to join us on board and in the dock bottom, documenting everything from removal and reapplication of anti-fouling paint to the hull to joining our team for lunch in the crew mess. He spent time with many of the 700-strong workforce who together made the dry dock programme possible, including some of the 30 apprentices involved. • This week, our CEO Samantha Stimpson attended CLIA | Cruise Lines International Association's Parliamentary Reception in the House of Commons.   With over 100 industry representatives, politicians and civil servants, the event highlighted the cruise industry's role in bringing trade and tourism to towns and cities across the UK.   With CLIA’s latest data showing how the industry supports 60,000 jobs across the country, politicians were able to learn more about how cruise benefits businesses, travel agents and local economies throughout the UK, including coastal communities.   The event was sponsored by Mike Tapp MP, representing the Port of Dover, who said: “I was delighted to welcome so many representatives from the industry to parliament to discuss the importance of cruise tourism to the UK’s local communities and economy.”   Samantha Stimpson said: "We're very proud to support local economies throughout the UK, not only through our use of six departure ports across the country but also through our apprenticeship schemes and our ship dry docks, taking place in local dockyards, and providing jobs to the wider communities."   Stuart Andrew MP, former tourism minister and shadow secretary of state for culture, media and sport, said: “Over 2.3 million Brits each year chose to go on a cruise holiday every year, whilst there are over 2 million inbound visits to ports in every part of the country each year.”   Pictured from left to right: Nick Hughes, Ambassador Cruise Line; Minister for Aviation, Maritime and Security, Mike Kane MP; Samantha Stimpson, Fred.
