Om oss
GEO EXPRO is a magazine and online publication with a strong focus on the subsurface aspects of the global oil and gas industry and the energy transition. Our main aim is to report on and provide context to energy-related news where geoscience plays a key role. GEO ExPro Magazine is suitable for everyone interested in the energy sector from a subsurface perspective. and is available in a format that fits your lifestyle; in print, online, and across social media. Each and every issue of GEO ExPro is packed with relevant content, news, and articles to meet the interests of geologists, geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and anyone else involved in the exploration and production of oil and gas resources. Our popular columns include, GEO Tourism, Exploration, GEO Physics, Geology, Recent Advances in Technology and many more. Our GEO Lifestyle column launched in 2018 to introduce the industry's first travel & lifestyle column for oil and gas - reaching out to new but relevant audiences within the energy sector. Market research in 2017 reported we had an estimated readership of over 28,000 per issue through print subscriptions, PDF downloads & online article access and content sharing. As well as sharing our latest articles, we provide industry news and comment through our social media channels—making GEO ExPro the first port of call to read emerging geology and geoscience stories that are relevant to you.

Rodney Garrard writes in today’s article: "The environmental ideology driving the statement, 'the sooner hydrocarbons or fossil fuels are gone, the better for the world,' is misguided and misses the fact that to create a positive future for all the world’s citizens, the world desperately needs more energy, not less." Today we report on a fascinating case study from the Netherlands, where a geothermal exploration well was drilled earlier this year. Despite reservoir properties looking to be excellent, flow test results were not as good as expected. That's where the extensive suite of logs and other data acquired came in - ultimately enabling the team at operator EBN B.V. to explain why the flow tests were disappointing. Mongolia does not often feature in oil and gas news, but that's not to say nothing happens in that part of the world. Elixir Energy Ltd (EXR.AX), from Australia, have drilled and tested a series of very thick Permian and Carboniferous coal seams in the south of the country to test the potential for coalbed methane production. Graham Davis recently retired as Harbour’s chief petrophysicist after four decades of being immersed in making sense of logs, cores and other drilling data. He served as a mentor to many generations of petrophysicists and other G&G folk. During this talk, Graham will share his insights on how his profession, and the wider subsurface workflows, have changed over the decades, what to do to confidently announce and develop a discovery, and what geologists can learn from petrophysicists.... and vice versa. And of course, there may be a series of anecdotes from the front line! In addition, Westwood Global Energy Group will provide an overview of drilling activity across the North Sea. 🗒️ - Tuesday 26th November 2024 - 12:00-14:00 ⬇️ - Atholl Hotel - 54 King‘s Gate, Aberdeen 🥪 - Will be served 🎫 - £10 👉 - Registration: https://lnkd.in/ef6Mhbmy GESGB (Geoscience Energy Society of Great Britain)

Querent AI’s semantic knowledge graphs visualize complex geological data, uncovering trends across large datasets, as demonstrated with the Gulf of Mexico basin. While highly efficient for spotting trends, it complements rather than replaces human intuition in exploring new ideas or challenging existing theories. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eJRwJ-Xz
