Is it possible to reduce emissions without compromising quality? Our fully electric #OtterUSV now features hulls made from recycled MDPE, thanks to our partnership with Ovun AS. The recycled material—sourced from Nordic Plastic Recycling—meets the same high standards as virgin plastics, offering durability, performance, and quality without compromise. 🌍 ♻️ By using recycled materials, we’ve achieved a 75% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to virgin plastic materials, reduced waste, and contributed to a circular economy. 🌊 This is another example of how innovative technology and sustainable solutions can go hand in hand! Exciting day testing The Otter from Maritime Robotics AS with a Norbit Winghead multibeam! We were blown away by the functionality and control features of the vessel, as well as its impressive durability and practicality. The team collected some valuable bathymetric data along the pier wall, showcasing the capabilities of this tough and versatile vessel. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Last week we attended the Nortek Navigation Day in Aberdeen, UK! During the event, Athavan Mahendran presented our Uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) as a platform for integrating Nortek's advanced acoustic sensors. He highlighted the use of their Vessel-Mounted Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (VM ADCPs) which can accurately measure currents over a large area in just minutes, allowing the collection of multiple current profiles at different points along the sailed track. 📍The VM ADCP’s ability to perform bottom tracking allows it to function similarly to a Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), enhancing navigation accuracy for autonomous operations. 📊 Compared to traditional stationary ADCPs, vessel-mounted surveys require significantly less time to run and are a more cost-effective solution for collecting high-quality oceanographic data. 🌊 This technology is relevant across various fields, including oceanographic surveys, hydrographic mapping, and environmental monitoring.
