Latest on the Ballast Water Innovation Project We are now rolling out a sampling campaign onboard ships partners with the project. We will be basically sampling water from where ships ballast, to map the quality of the water and understand the functionality of BWMS in conjunction with that. The work undergoing now is in the Great Lakes region (GLSLR region), and we want to include as many ships and ports sailing in this region as possible, especially those fitted with a BWMS, but this is not necessary. We are therefore offering ship owners, ports and other stakeholders the possibility to join our campaign, free of charge, to understand the water quality in the ports where they are operating. If interested, email us at bwip@bwm.no

Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS) retrofit is still one of the major activities we do. In the picture below, a team of 4 fitters and a supervisor installing a UV-based BWMS while the ship is in operation (23 June 2024). This year alone, we have completed over 30 similar projects, many of which included 3D scanning, engineering design, procurement and fitting onboard. Shout out to our Riding Teams doing excellent work onboard.
