-- The Norwegian Centre for Human Rights is a multi- and interdisciplinary centre. Through research, teaching, and dissemination, the Centre shall promote the subject of human rights as an academic field, and strengthen its international position as a central actor and attractive collaborative partner within the human rights field. -- The Centre offers several educational activities. The most important are the two-year Master programme in ‘The Theory and Practice of Human Rights’, a one-week intensive course in Human Rights and other professional training courses. The Centre is also involved in the teaching of human rights and international law at the University of Oslo. -- The International Department at the Centre is in charge of applied human rights work and competence building. -- The Centre publishes the Nordic Journal of Human Rights.

Their latest study analyses the dynamics of expert bodies and reveals that, contrary to expectations, women are more active than men. The NCHR recently attended the 8th annual ASEAN Networking Meeting in Bangkok. Scholars from across Asia joined Mahidol University, AUN-HRE and the NCHR to discuss trends, challenges, and opportunities in the area of Business and Human Rights (BHR). The 2024 regional meeting gathered more than 100 participants and featured a series of discussions, and speakers from academia, AICHR, the UN, and civil society provided insights into the regional challenges associated with BHR. Key highlights: 1️⃣ Insightful keynotes and panels on BHR. 2️⃣ Engaging networking sessions at Thailand’s Ministry of Justice. 3️⃣ Lively discussions on integrating BHR into Human Rights Education.
