Movember – a busy networking month in #Stavanger! First, during the FORCE “Discoveries and Cores of the Year” seminar on Nov 6th – very well organised by Thomas Harris Uist – cores of the recent #Muskovitt (Harbour Energy) and #Carmen (Wellesley Petroleum) discoveries were presented by Carol Baunack (together with John Paul Cummings from Stratum Reservoir) and Peter Shiner. Very interesting to see the spectacularly convoluted #injectite strata in Muskovitt, together with some good discussions on presence of storm deposits in the Etive Formation. We need to look at rocks more often! Second, in the “Geosteering and Formation Evaluation Workshop” - arranged by NORCE Norwegian Research Centre and NFES - Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society on Nov 12/13th - SMEs from service companies, operators and academia met to discuss the recent technological developments in #Geosteering. As one take-way message, a strong collaboration between service providers – who best understand their tools and data processing – and the operators - who can provide the field understanding – is seen as key to provide successfully geosteered wells in even more complex reservoirs. Also, automation and ML will to better integrate data across different scales. Many thanks to Sergey Alyaev and the rest of the organizing committee for this excellent workshop! Third, Emilie Christina Kittilsen and the rest of the Norsk Petroleumsforening / Norwegian Petroleum Society organizing committee ran yet another great "Reservoir & Production Management Conference", with good case studies on AICD, CT, retrofit MLTs and tracer applications in reservoir management. One highlight of the conference was a keynote speech of Aker BP ASA's CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik, emphasizing the importance of a proper subsurface understanding as a prerequisite for good business decisions. “Rather earn a dollar than save a dollar” - quite refreshing! We from Harbour Energy were happy to show how we will apply new ensemble modelling technology for decision making during drilling in our #MariaPhase2 project- a toolbox that we are currently developing together with Halliburton and Resoptima -- a Halliburton-Landmark Technology. Special thanks to Eugene Dahl for his excellent presentation. Last not least the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers) local chapter of Stavanger organised a well-attended evening panel discussion on "Challenges and Opportunities of Infrastructure-led Exploration on the NCS". Glad to see that Harbour Energy's Roy Davies shared our view on this topic! Thanks Anastasiia Jacobsen and the rest of the local EAGE chapter team – keep up the good work! In summary, almost all presenters highlighted the importance of a solid subsurface understanding and uncertainty handling as a prerequisite for successful project delivery. I am looking forward for more future events like these in the oil and gas capital of Norway!

📢 Join upcoming NFES Stavanger Technical Meeting 📢 Please find below information about the next NFES meeting, to be held at Solastranden Gård, Wednesday, 4th of December 2024, at 11:00. This meeting will feature two presentations, each 20 minutes long, followed by 10 minutes of Q&A First Presentation: 'Obtaining Remaining Oil Saturation For The Johan Sverdrup Field From a Variety of Logging Data' by Brice Fortier, Equinor The presentation will discuss the case of the dedicated to waterflooding observation well, which plays a crucial role in this strategy. Drilling the well at the right time allowed for a full set of open hole logs to fully characterize the reservoir and fluid . The well was completed with a non-perforated cemented liner. Pulsed neutron logs are conducted every 3 months to monitor shoreline evolution and estimate in situ water saturation (Sw). These observations contribute to the reservoir and petro-elastic models and confirm their overall accuracy. Second presentation: 'Reservoir fluid properties from cuttings: An innovative Synergy of Gel Permeation Chromatography and Data Analytics' by Alexandra Cely, Equinor The presentation will discuss the application of GPC coupled with both Ultraviolet (UV) and refractive index (RI) detectors to generate multi-detector spectra from reservoir fluids and cuttings extracts originating from six distinct fields situated in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). The technique is deployed to analyze oil samples, encompassing a wide range of reservoir fluid types, including condensates, volatile oils, black oils, and heavy oils. This technology has large potential to transform each drill-cutting fragment into a PVT (Pressure-Volume-Temperature) sample and contributes significantly to unlocking the latent value within the cuttings, which are readily available and offer access to reservoir fluid properties at an early stage in field development, including the drilling phase. We look forward to your participation! NFES - Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society thanks the supporting companies Aker BP ASA, Equinor, ROGII, Logtek AS, Hydrophilic AS, SLB, Halliburton, WELL ID and Vår Energi #Petrophysics #Formationevaluation #Cuttings #drilling

I am just back from very successful trip to the 3rd Global Geosteering Workshop in Stavanger Norway, organised by NORCE Norwegian Research Centre & NFES - Norwegian Formation Evaluation Society. It was a great 2 days with a lot of opportunity to catch up with colleagues from around the world in person and to have wide ranging discussions on hot topics in the world of gesoteering. Not only on ultra-deep azimuthal resistivity (UDAR) advances but also on progress towards 3D inversion and it was nice to see if you like old school techniques such as biostratigraphy still being actively applied to gesoteering challenges. #BakerHughes contributed the keynote talk on the status of the Geothermal market and how gesoteering could look to develop solutions to mitigate some of the challenges this segment face. Thanks to Francesco Di Credico (FDC) for accepting the invite to present at this workshop. Our reservoir navigation team presented 4 talks, on our experience with our new TRU-ARMS advanced reservoir mapping service and automated geosteering, co-authored with Equinor focusing on our successes in Norway; Standardisation of deliverables for UDAR data in a new advanced borehole eXchange format and we also show cased our developments in multi-dimensional inversion, co-authored with bp. I also took part as one of the panellists for the workshop panel discussion, "Where is Geosteering Going in the Next 10 Years?" Discussion focused on the development of automated processes and the potential impact of AI and are we ready as a discipline to embrace automated gesoteering, as well as a number of other topics on where next we will go with data integration and the role of the gesoteering supervisor going forward. Thanks to the Baker team who presented – Warren Fernandes, and Gleb Dyatlov, our co-authors, both from Baker Hughes and from bp and Equinor. It was also great to catch up with the local RNS team Fredrik Jonsbråten, Craig Saint, Kjeld Ghysels, Anita Hovet Sveinsvoll & Armando Vianna For further information on some of the topics above please see: TRU-ARMS advanced reservoir mapping service https://lnkd.in/eDBqyHH9 iTrak automated reservoir navigation https://lnkd.in/e9yuGDu9 Looking forward to the 4th edition in 2 years time…….. #wearebakerhughes

Balancing work and pleasure is a topic that resonates with many of us. Often, the two are seen as opposites, yet there are countless ways they can enhance each other when they intersect 💪🏽 For me, this balance became very real when I had the chance to mix my passion for music with my professional life at the Geosteering Workshop at Sola Strand Hotel. Not only did I get to perform my music for a room of friendly, sharp-minded geophysicists from the world oil and gas, but I also had the chance to throw in a few dry jokes (that at least I found to be funny). And when asked about myself, I got the opportunity to share a bit about Streamsolution and what we offer. Who knows where those conversations might lead?🚀 I’m fortunate to be working in sales with new innovative technology and engineering, a combination that’s also a personal passion, much like writing and performing music. It’s been a long time since “work” felt like work in that negative sense! Lucky me! 🫶🏽 A huge thanks to Sergey for the continued trust - three events in a row now! 🤘🏽
