“Why is it so challenging to change energy behaviour?” This question will be addressed by Arne Johan Vetlesen during the Nordic Energy Efficiency Conference on 30 January in Oslo. As Professor of Philosophy at the Universitetet i Oslo (UiO), Vetlesen invites us to consider whether we need a new narrative about what energy efficiency truly means, from a philosophical perspective. “The most cost-effective way to save energy is simply not to use it. But if it's so straightforward, why is it so challenging to change energy behaviour? Is smaller always better? Are we ignoring the climate crisis while turning a blind eye to the plastic polluting of our oceans?” says Vetlesen. In addition to the philosophical aspects, the conference will explore insights from consumers, the industry, and policy analysis, on energy efficiency in the Nordics. The conference will also feature speakers such as: ● Peter Bach, Consultant ● Kjetil Lund, Director, NVE ● Roberta Moschetti, Research Scientist, SINTEF ● Klaus Skytte, CEO, Nordisk Energiforskning ● Kasper Mogensen, CEO, Big2Great ● Kati Ruohomäki, Chief Policy Adviser, Elinkeinoelämän keskusliitto EK – Confederation of Finnish Industries ● Christopher Markhus Poots, Manager, Oslo Economics ● Hilde Sandvik (moderator) Sign up for the conference at: https://lnkd.in/dagZpmUg See the conference programme at: https://lnkd.in/dvf3zmjJ

Do like Aksel Bang – apply for our call Individual Exchange Support! The Individual Exchange Support Call under the Nordic Energy Research Mobility Programme provides a unique opportunity for PhD students, postdocs, and researchers in the Nordic region to secure financial support for research that contributes to the region's sustainable energy development. Deadline for applications is 31 December 2024.
“A more co-operative Nordic community can lead to better results for all” Meet Aksel Bang, PhD Fellow at Aalborg University, who received funding from the Individual Exchange Support Call through the Nordic Energy Research Mobility Programme, to go on a six-month exchange programme at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. Aksel's exchange offered him an incredible opportunity to delve into the nuances of Nordic cooperation. “Relocating from Denmark to Norway has been simple, both administratively and culturally. This is due to our many similarities, although there are also differences between the Nordic countries, particularly in the field of energy. Observing these differences has given me insight into how the Nordics can learn from each other. It’s inspiring to think about how a more co-operative Nordic community can lead to better results for all,” says Aksel. He encourages PhD students and researchers to jump on this chance and apply for individual exchange support: “I think the best advice I can give is: Do it. It opens many exciting opportunities both professionally and personally.” 📚 Read more and apply for Individual Exchange Support here: https://lnkd.in/drJz89mv Deadline for the call is 31 December 2024.
