  • Record-busy market and mixed signals ahead: Here's how our credit funds navigated January. Despite January being one of the most active months for primary issuance on record - typically diverting focus from the secondary market, our funds are off to a solid start of the year: 🌱 Our flagship credit fund Norselab Meaningful Impact High Yield delivered 1.19% net return in January, 36.9% since inception (Dec 2022). 🏢 Our thematic credit fund Norselab Real Estate Credit Opportunities delivered 2.48% net return in January, 31.5% since inception (Nov 2023). 📊Market Snapshot Nordic high yield returned on average 0.9%, with spreads stable at 416 bps (DNB Markets). Swedish spreads, which have hovered above the Nordic average since 2022, are now tightening. New issues continue to be introduced to the market and are mostly absorbed. • With the market reaching nearly USD 1.6 trillion, impact investing practices are becoming increasingly sophisticated. But are we advancing impact, or are we getting lost in complexity? Our Chief Impact Officer Maria de Perlinghi dives into three critical dilemmas impact investors must navigate this year: 📌 Do our sophisticated frameworks drive better impact outcomes—or are we building an "impact bureaucracy beast"? 📌 Can sustainability regulation drive value—or is it becoming a compliance exercise? 📌 Does monetizing impact bring clarity—or oversimplify what truly matters? • Thanks to everyone who braved the chilly January rain to join our Credit, Coffee & Croissants (CCC+) investor event yesterday morning! 💡 Keynote speaker Harald Magnus Andreassen of SpareBank 1 Markets shared his macroeconomic perspectives with a sharp take on Norway’s economic outlook and how productivity, terms of trade, and currency move largely in tandem with comparable economies. "Ahead of us is neither H**l nor Heaven," Andreassen claimed. 🔎 Our own Ole Einar Stokstad, CQF shared Norselab's views on the high-yield market; while there is still a wave to ride in several segments, tightening spreads in liquid names call for caution. ✨ Tom Hestnes closed the event with a performance overview, highlighting the benefits of running the strategies in an AIF structure and with a capped fund size that allows capturing liquidity premiums. It was a pleasure spending the morning with you. We look forward to the next opportunity! #Norselab #MeaningfulInvesting #MeaningfulHighYield Tom Hestnes - Lars Christian Bjørge - Ole Einar Stokstad, CQF - Line Tollefsen - Shatthik Barua - Yngve Tvedt - Maria de Perlinghi - Erik Syvertsen, CFA
