👤 Brooke Goodspeed, PhD, CRNP, is a nurse practitioner and Director of Research and Special Projects at the Jefferson Center for Autism & Neurodiversity at Jefferson Health. In this role, Dr. Goodspeed develops evidence-based strategies to enhance health and healthcare for neurodivergent individuals and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She has research experience in secondary data analysis, program evaluation and implementation, and Phase II clinical trials.
In 2015, Dr. Goodspeed founded GETincluded, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing social inclusion and employment opportunities for neurodiverse individuals. Under her leadership, GET Café, the organization’s full-service coffee shop and café, has become a model for community-integrated, competitive employment, providing jobs for over 40 neurodiverse staff members. GET Café collaborates with universities in the Greater Philadelphia region, engaging students from disciplines such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and special education to ensure its programs are rooted in best practices and evidence. Dr. Goodspeed oversees research at GET Café to develop evidence-based employment training and accommodations for individuals with IDD and neurodivergence, using a design thinking approach to tailor support across diverse needs.
Her work has garnered accolades, including the 2023 Employer of the Year award from the Montgomery County Department of Developmental Disabilities and the 2020 Unsung Hero Award from Senator Daily Leach. Dr. Goodspeed was also named a 2024 Women of Influence Winner by Main Line Parent and serves as a board member of Hope Grows for Autism.
Dr. Goodspeed’s dedication is influenced by her experience as a parent of a child with IDD and complex medical needs, giving her a unique perspective that bridges clinical and research expertise with firsthand advocacy.
