    Grieg Seafood reports Q3 loss as biological challenges weigh on performance : Grieg Seafood reported an operational EBIT loss of NOK 175 million ($16.03 million) in Q3 2024, compared to NOK -86 million ($7.87 million) in the same period last year. The EBIT per kilogram worsened to NOK -9.8 ($0.90) from NOK -7.0 ($0.64), despite a 45% increase in harvest volume to 17,806 tonnes. https://lnkd.in/d2Kp6tdm

    Global push: Maritech targets new markets across Europe and Asia : Maritech, a provider of cloud-based software solutions for the seafood industry, has announced its expansion into new markets across Europe and Asia, reflecting growing demand for digitalization within the global seafood sector. The company, which already supports over 500 customers across nine countries, aims to bring its solutions to new regions, building on its success in Norway, Iceland, and North America. “2024 marks a pivotal year for us as we take the step to become truly global,” said Klas Vangen, Maritech’s newly appointed General Manager for Europe and Asia. “The seafood industry is embracing digital transformation, and this is the perfect time to expand into new markets.” Maritech’s acquisition by CAI earlier this year has expanded its network and resources, facilitating the move into new markets. “Our existing seafood customers have strong connections in Europe and Asia,” said Per Alfred Holte, Chief Commercial Officer. “It’s a natural step for us to follow them and strengthen operations while building new relationships.” Holte emphasized the importance of Vangen’s leadership in driving international growth. “Klas has played a key role in Maritech’s sales success over the past six years. https://lnkd.in/dPA9Jvqp

    University of Stirling awards inaugural Nikos Steiropoulos Aquaculture Bursary : The University of Stirling has named Laila Al Farsi as the first recipient of the Nikos Steiropoulos Aquaculture Bursary, a prestigious award funded by MSD Animal Health UK.
