Telenor Maritime is a global mobile operator enabling the best mobile experience at sea. It was founded as Maritime Communications Partner in 2002 and has now become Telenor Maritime. The name change reflects our company’s increasingly broad marine connectivity and communications portfolio, with VSAT and mobile coverage, digital- and Internet services. At the same time, we are expanding our global position, moving into markets where the Telenor name is well recognised. Telenor Maritime has continued to grow as a major global mobile operator at sea with a mobile-centric solution, enabling a digital business transformation in the maritime verticals offshore, cruise, ferry, and fisheries. We are building a mobile 4G network covering the Norwegian Continental Shelf and are strengthening our global presence. Our new name reflects the changing balance of our business, allowing us to be more relevant to our customers within the markets we operate. We are harnessing the power of digital technology, mobile devices, beacons and near-field communications to improve customer experience and boost loyalty, we are helping ship-owners to develop solutions so they can send real-time promotions or loyalty points to customers’ smartphones if they stop in front of specific products in the onboard shop. Receiving these discounts makes customers feel valued and encourages them to spend, boosting cross-sell and upsell opportunities for the ship-owner.
