The theme of my move to Oslo seems to be: skill-sharing! 🧶 Had a fab time last night representing Unlock Norway at an Intro To Knitting event in collaboration with Mister Na Knits, Pickles, and Fuglen. 25 people came together to learn how to knit a swatch*, and some even started working on their very own Rosie Scarf! It’s been such a joy meeting new people in the immigrant community here, learning new skills together, and creating a little sense of home in Oslo. There’s something so special about building a supportive community through shared passions. Two words you need to know before Easter in Norway: 📚 Påskekrim: A unique Norwegian tradition where people indulge in crime novels (or detective stories, mystery thrillers, etc.) during the Easter holidays. Publishers even release their own 'Påskekrimmen' books, and TV channels and magazines participate by featuring crime mysteries. 🌆 Bypåske / Asfaltpåske: Literally translating to 'City Easter' or 'Asphalt Easter,' these terms refer to spending the Easter holidays in the city as opposed to the more traditional cabin holidays in the mountains. People who choose Bypåske might enjoy the quieter city, take advantage of cultural events, or simply enjoy the break at home without traveling.
