Women and girls face heightened dangers in displacement camps, from loss of safety to reduced access to resources like health services. Climate change amplifies existing inequalities, leaving women more vulnerable to violence in times of crisis. A Thriving Future for Climate Startups in Nepal 🌍 On November 13, 2024, we held our first-ever Climate Champion Competition in Nepal at EDEN Sanepa, and it was a resounding success! Over 122 climate innovators applied, and after intensive training and workshops, 7 selected startups pitched their groundbreaking solutions. SDA (Startup Discovery Asia) extends a huge congratulations to the winners!    🏆  Agri-Direct Global Pvt. Ltd. - Most Innovative, Impactful, and Scalable Business - Prize: Rs. 1 Lakh  Championing the "Farmer's Friend," a sustainable method using Black Soldier Fly larvae to convert organic waste into high-protein animal feed and organic fertilizer. 🏅  Sakal Bio Enzyme Nepal – Most Impactful Business  – Prize: Rs. 50,000  Producing eco-friendly bioenzymes as alternatives to chemical cleaners. Made from fermented organic waste, these enzymes help reduce pollution & waste. 📈  RVM Nepal   –  Most Scalable Business  – Prize: Rs. 50,000  Utilizing thermal energy storage and AI-driven monitoring to optimize cold storage, stabilize temperatures, & reduce energy consumption, supporting Nepal’s agricultural value chain.  As part of SDA's debut event in Nepal, we welcomed 150+ passionate attendees from diverse fields: development, ecosystem, banking, private sector, investment, CSOs, media, arts & engineering. This is just the beginning of a promising future for climate innovation in Nepal. While only three startups could take the prizes home, we acknowledge the contributions of our other four finalists who are also winners to us : Indra Barah Pipe Udhyog : for recycled plastic waste into durable water pipes. Climetrace : for carbon accounting to measure, manage & reduce carbon emissions. Grevolution: for green roof technology to combat Urban Heat Island(UHI) effect. BOTS Industries : for affordable & accessible air quality monitoring solutions. We also proudly launched Alpha Angels, inviting expressions of interest to establish an angel investment community. Together, we’re committed to building investor confidence for impactful climate solutions.
