BIG news: Agovor Limited is now featured in the The Mixing Bowl 2024 Crop Robotics Landscape! 🚜✨ That means we’re rubbing robot elbows with the best brains (and circuits) in crop-growing tech. 🥕🤖 This year, Chris Taylor and Michael Rose have expanded the landscape expanded to include nearly 100 more companies working on making farming smarter, faster, and more sustainable - including mine! 🌱💡 (I'll bet Walt Duflock played a major part to make sure this got done!) 🫐 Exciting times at Berry Farms NZ as Agovor Limited’s first robot joins the team – drumroll, please... ...meet Robbie the Robot! 🤖 Since my demo at Fieldays, Johnny Milmine’s support has been 🔑 in bringing this tech to life, and it’s fantastic to see Robbie rolling up his circuits on the farm. Safe to say Garry’s been all smiles 😊 with Robbie tackling some of his routine tasks. But what happens when there’s no AI route, or I need to venture into uncharted territory? Am I just a good-looking paperweight in the shed? Nope! 💁♂️ Just grab a PlayStation controller, and boom—I’m all yours. ❓Need to haul heavy gear to the back paddock while the tractor’s out of action? ❓Or maybe you want to deliver Friday beers and snacks to the crew but left your octopus arms at home? 🍻🐙 No worries—connect via Bluetooth, connect the trailers (with standard ball connection) and steer me wherever you want. Easy. Peasy. Thanks to Simon Carroll (my tech-bro man-crush is next level right now), all my functions are mapped to the controller—forward/reverse, left/right, sprayer up/down, and yep, even a trigger for my horn!📯 And don’t worry, I’m still 👩✈️Captain Safety - its Agovor Limited policy —to have me constantly scanning for hazards. If I venture more than 20m from the controller, I stop dead in my tracks. No runaway robots here! 🤖🚫 What's it like learning the ropes? A cinch! 🎧 Sound on, if you please. Yes, that's me, traipsing through a kiwifruit orchard in the Bay of Plenty. Not exactly what you'd call graceful. Simon Carroll, our co-founder (and a much better CTO than cinematographer), thought this moment needed to be captured. The result? Well, let’s just say it was... a bit too zoomed out, and slightly dull. 🧐 But all was not lost. Enter the music—something obscure and French, of course. 🎶 Then, 'Futura Bold' to rescue the day. Suddenly, what was once an uneventful clip turned into a brief, Wes Anderson-inspired moment of magic. ✨ A small, whimsical escape into the mundane, saved by the right tune and just the perfect typeface. It's a reminder that even the most ordinary things (if, indeed, you consider an electric autonomous orchard robot quietly working its way through kiwifruit vines ordinary) can become delightful with a touch of creativity... and the right soundtrack.
