Connecting Buyers with Māori & Pasifika businesses

About us

Amotai has three main roles: We connect clients and buyers to Māori and Pasifika businesses; Amotai connects and matches public sector, private sector, iwi and non-government clients and buyers with Māori and/or Pasifika-owned suppliers. This is known as business-to-business (B2B) procurement. We build demand-side and supply-side capabilities; Successful supplier diversity and development requires that both the demand-side and the supply-side are ready and able to do this well. We provide practical advice and support to clients and buyers and Māori and Pasifika businesses. We promote supply chain diversity and development; Amotai also promotes and influences supplier diversity and development across Aotearoa. We play an important role in telling the story of supplier diversity and its benefits for clients and buyers, Māori and Pasifika economies and NZ Inc. Supplier diversity and development is a dynamic and evolving discipline. We are connected to the supplier diversity councils across the globe to ensure that policy and practice in Aotearoa continuously improves. This enables us to provide quality strategic advice on policy, legislation and programmes that support supplier diversity.

  • Our Amotai team has just concluded our end of year team wānanga. Three days of open wānanga, sharing kōrero, whakaaro and mātauranga. We spent time reflecting and sharing insights and experiences from the year that has been. We also spent time reviewing our purpose and the strategy we need to implement to push this kaupapa forward. Rautaki - Strategy, unites an organisation to deliver on their vision and mission. Developing a strategic plan with the intention of establishing supplier diversity as a strategic goal of the company and executing that goal demonstrates a commitment to fostering Māori and Pasifika businesses. Our Tere ki Tai article on Rautaki demonstrates key aspects such as strategy and planning, policy and budget. Our tīma have had a valuable last few days incorporating rautaki into our business wānanga, find out how you can do the same: https://lnkd.in/gr-Tkkck #Amotai #TerekiTaiThursday #SupplierDiversity

  • Far North District Council's The State of the Far North Address 2024 took place recently with Mayor Moko Tepania inspiring those in Te Tai Tokerau with powerful reflections of the region’s recent challenges, the progress made and a roadmap towards a more resilient Far North 2100. Opening with karakia, kapahaka and discussing navigating through council systems, policies, and processes, Mayor Moko Tepania also honored iwi, hapū, volunteers, stakeholders, and “cousin” councils that make Tai Tokerau a thriving place to live. Here are a few keynotes from our Te Tai Tokerau SDL, Missy Armstrong who attended: ⚡ Far North has a population of 71,430, a roading network of 2,700 km and a projected 9.5% growth by 2028. ⚡The far north battled immense challenges with severe droughts, covid-19 and cyclones. ⚡ Only 39% of residents fund council services yet costs of repairs and maintenance are continuing to rise. ⚡ As a leader, Mayor Moko praises the dedication of the 400 staff and 29 elected members who work tirelessly for our community. A wero was placed by Moko Tepania: “Let’s make this journey together. Keep the conversation going, attend consultation events, watch our live streams and raise requests for service.” As always, his personable delivery strengthened the connections in the room, nga mihi nui Mayor Moko for your leadership and vision for our future! #FarNorthWhānau #StrongerTogether #CommunityLeadership

  • Welcome to #TerekiTaiThursday! Nearly ¾ of *Impact buyers have indicated that they attend our annual Summit and/or networking events *Impact Buyers are Amotai buyers that have completed their Tere ki Tai assessment and are working on their action plans. Amotai connects buyers with Māori and Pasifika owned businesses. We do this through a variety of ways, but we find that kanohi ki te kanohi sets the best intention in developing a fruitful working relationship. Supporting buyer members to expand their supply chain with diverse suppliers is critical in awarding more contracts to diverse suppliers. Our Meet the Buyer programme will be back next year. This is an opportunity for buyer members to engage with numerous Māori and/or Pasifika suppliers to kickstart that working relationship. Check out what Amotai supplier Lochlan Spence Ihaka Marino Te Waru Hynd had to share about his experience at Meet the Buyer Tauranga earlier this year. "After the last Meet the Buyer event in Tauranga, we kept in touch with Taupō District Council, who in turn advised us of their specialist panel openings. We have just received our first invitation to join their specialist panel out of 230 submissions, which is currently the first panel we have been invited to in the country. We’re so deeply excited, and this could lead to three years of work for our local engineers and is exactly the type of opportunities we were hoping to achieve from Amotai". If you want to be involved in our Meet the Buyer programme for 2025, comment below or email me Paul@amotai.nz Check out Lochlan Spence Ihaka Marino Te Waru Hynd from Ruru speaking on our future entrepreneurs panel from Summit 2024👇🌟 #Amotai #SupplierDiversity #TerekiTaiThursday #MeettheBuyer
