October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Timely new findings from the Cancer Institute NSW revealed that metastatic breast cancer rates have soared past previous estimates, with around 8,000 individuals currently living with the condition in New South Wales alone – highlighting the national estimate of approximately 10,553 as widely inaccurate. This significant discrepancy in case numbers underscores the need for increased awareness, surveillance, and action in our fight against breast cancer. To better equip ourselves in supporting patients with metastatic breast cancer, we invite you to join us for an informative session on breakthrough cancer pain. Let’s come together to learn and support those affected. You can access the course here: https://lnkd.in/g6D7BCFj Together, we can make a difference! #BreastCancerAwareness #MetastaticBreastCancer #CancerResearch #BreakthroughPain #Education #Support #HealthCare #TogetherWeCan

Dementia Action Week 2024 – starts today! Led by Dementia Australia from 16-22 September, this week encourages all of us to take action to create a dementia-friendly future for our communities – for us, that’s through education. Education is crucial in understanding mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. Increasing the knowledge and confidence of doctors and specialists in identifying and diagnosing patients as well as how managing these conditions is invaluable to the community. We encourage both GPs and specialists to take a look at our 1-hour interactive and accredited courses ‘Unravelling memories: normal aging, MCI and dementia in general practice’, to enhance their understanding. Sign in/up to Arterial Education to start learning https://lnkd.in/gdBGzfeD Act Now for a dementia-friendly future. R U OK? Today we come together to shine a light on the power of conversation and connection. This important day serves as a reminder to check in with one another, to ask, listen, and genuinely care about the well-being of those around us. In our fast-paced world, a simple question like "Are you okay?" can make a world of difference to someone who may be struggling. At Arterial we believe in the importance of fostering a supportive and compassionate workplace culture. We encourage open dialogue about mental health and well-being, and we strive to create an environment where every individual feels valued and supported. Let's use today to not only ask the question but to actively listen, without judgment, and to offer our support to colleagues, friends, and loved ones who may be going through tough times. Together, we can break the stigma surrounding mental health, promote understanding, and remind each other that it's okay to not be okay – as long as we're there for each other. #RUOKDay #MentalHealthAwareness #Support #Connection #Wellbeing

Exciting News! Arterial’s partnership with Head and Neck Cancer Australia (HANCA; Head and Neck Cancer Australia) has been recognised! This month we were announced as a finalist in the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) of the Year category for the 2024 PRIME Awards (PRIME Awards)! This achievement highlights our dual educational initiative designed to elevate awareness and optimise time to diagnosis and treatment for Head and Neck Cancers. Head and Neck Cancer treatment is complex and can be debilitating, both physically and mentally, emphasising the importance of prevention. Our goal was to develop an education initiative that would demonstrate the importance of early identification by healthcare professionals on the frontline. In highlighting the importance of general practitioners and dentists in Head and Neck Cancer, this activity establishes how an interdisciplinary approach is critical to successful patient outcomes. The landscape of HNC is changing from traditional and modifiable risk factors, such as alcohol and tobacco consumption, to infection with oncogenic high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV), increasingly found in the oropharynx. By collaborating with general practitioners and dentists, we are paving the way for earlier detection and more effective care. The changing face of Head and Neck Cancer is freely available activity on the Arterial Education portal. It comprises didactic educational content, informative videos, and interactive case studies, to help participants meet learning outcomes. Recognising the demands of modern life, the program offers flexible, on-demand access, allowing individuals to learn at their own pace. This immersive learning environment caters to diverse learning styles, promotes deeper understanding, and respects participants’ time constraints. You can check it out here: https://lnkd.in/g9DGp6gi A huge thank you to HANCA CEO, Nadia Rosin, doctors Matthew Magarey, ENT, Head and Neck Surgeon, and Felix Sim, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, who dedicated their time and experience to this initiative, and to the extensive expert advisory committee members who were involved in guiding the development of this activity. Their commitment to improving patient outcomes is truly inspiring. A special thank you also goes out to the courageous patients who shared their heart wrenching journeys in the making of this activity. Let’s continue to work together to make a difference and drive positive change in the field of Head and Neck Cancer. #PRIMEAwards #HealthcareInnovation #HeadAndNeckCancer #PatientCare #Teamwork #Recognition #HANCA #HealthcareExcellence
