About us
Cetogenix is a clean technology company focussed on developing sustainable solutions to tackle climate change at a global scale. Our first technology targets the 1.5 billion tonnes of organic waste generated world-wide and addresses the growing demand for renewable natural gas. By retrofitting existing waste-to-biogas plants, we can increase renewable natural gas production by up to 40% and recover other components as added-value products, such as bio-fertilizers. Cetogenix ‘s technologies eliminate the need for organic wastes to be landfilled or incinerated, lowering their environmental impacts, and generating novel added-value market opportunities.

The KiwiNet Awards are the biggest national event for our research commercialisation sector, bringing together the Aotearoa innovation community to showcase success in technology development and deployment. This year, Cetogenix was privileged to be nominated as a finalist for the PwC Breakthrough Project category – which seeks to award best practice commercialisation of publicly funded research. Our nomination recognized a decade of science and engineering research while our co-founders were working at Scion, the successful translation of that research through our company’s creation in 2022, and the strong domestic and international R&D and commercialization relationships supporting the scale up our Ceto-Boost™ system. We want to acknowledge the incredible work of the other finalists - ANDFOODS, @Zealafoam, Kitea Health - whose innovation and dedication are helping shape the future of New Zealand’s research and commercialisation landscape. Special congratulations to Zealafoam (Sarah Heine and team) for winning this award this year. A huge thanks to our amazing Cetogenix team - and to KiwiNet, our investors, and our research partners for making this all possible. Together, we’re building renewable futures – with no waste left behind. Cetogenix is proud to be a finalist with our partner Scion in the 2024 KiwiNet Research Commercialisation Awards. This selection recognises the significant progress we have made since Cetogenix was created in 2022 – particularly with respect to translating the underpinning science of hydrothermal oxidation into a commercial opportunity – our Ceto-Boost™ platform. By converting organic waste into renewable energy and other valuable products, we are tackling a 100 B tonne a year challenge whilst reducing global GHG emissions across a number of sectors, including wastewater treatment, agriculture and industrial processing. Our pilot system is now operational in Rotorua, and we are currently gearing up for in-market trials in NZ, the UK, and beyond. Many thanks to our amazing Cetogenix team, who drive our vision forward. We also greatly appreciate the support and innovative vision of our investors - Pacific Channel, Icehouse Ventures, Angel HQ, and Enterprise Angels - and our innovation partners, Scion, AgResearch, and Cranfield University. Congratulations to our fellow finalists and many thanks to KiwiNet for this recognition. Together, we are building renewable futures - with no waste left behind. #Cetogenix #wastetorenewables #climatechangesolutions #nowasteleftbehind #Sustainability #CleanTech #RenewableEnergy #WasteToResource #Innovation #Scion #2024KiwiNetAwards

Cetogenix helps revolutionize UK water sector. Cetogenix is proud to announce we are a key delivery partner in a pioneering project that will enable development of sustainable outcomes for bioresources recycling in the UK - https://lnkd.in/eTDABHXN. Driving sustainable circular economy solutions - Led by Anglian Water Services in collaboration with Cranfield University, AtkinsRéalis, Severn Trent, Thames Water, Uisce Éireann Irish Water, Spring, and Cetogenix, the GBP 1.5 million ALL-Streams HTO project has received grant funding from the UK Ofwat Innovation Fund. Through its exploration of hydrothermal oxidation (HTO) technology, the project aims to create novel circular economy product streams, enabling nutrient and energy recovery, while promoting Net Zero benefits and eliminating the need for land application of biosolids and process emissions. HTO-based technologies present a multitude of benefits across various sectors. For customers, it promises reduced bills through revenue generation and operational cost savings. Societally, HTO contributes to circular economy goals and energy self-sufficiency, and aligns with the UK Government's Biomass Strategy. Environmentally, HTO offers an attractive proposition by reducing energy use, GHG emissions, and agricultural pollution risks. Pioneering innovation in bioresources management - As a key technology partner, Cetogenix brings its deep expertise in HTO development to the ALL-Streams HTO project. We have exemplified this expertise in our own proprietary platform – Ceto-Boost™, which embodies HTO principles in a proprietary, modular, plug-n-play system. This project is one of several focused on Advanced Thermal Conversion (ATC) technologies that have been funded by the Ofwat Innovation Fund. As such, Anglian Water Services and other water sector stakeholders will be able to benchmark bioresource management technologies – including our own - against a range of key measures, such as resource recovery, energy generation, cost effectiveness, and GHG emissions reduction. By establishing the viability of HTO technology and identifying pathways for its integration, this project paves the way for strategic investment, market resilience, and environmental stewardship. Through collaboration, innovation, and commitment, Cetogenix and its project partners are aiming to build a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come. “For Cetogenix, this project represents an incredible opportunity to engage with one of our key global markets, demonstrate the potential of our underpinning IP, and leverage an opportunity for future technology deployment.” – Trevor Stuthridge, CEO, Cetogenix #Innovation #Sustainability #WaterSector #CircularEconomy #NetZero #Cetogenix #HTO
