On Wednesday night in Wellington, we had the chance to bring together partners, peers, and representatives of the communities we serve, to celebrate what’s been a transformative year for Chorus. As we continue our journey to becoming the great network operator, it is collaboration with the industry, support from our communities and stakeholders, that will drive us to deliver real benefits to New Zealand. Thank you to everyone who attended, and a privilege to have Hon Paul Goldsmith join us for the evening!

📣This weekend, Chorus will be at the first ever Digital Seniors Tech Expo! Ahead of the Expo, today we were joined by some of fellow exhibitors in a discussion on understanding the senior digital divide, and what we can do collectively to help seniors engage with digital technology for their wellbeing and empowerment. Thank you to Digital Senior’s CEO Cathy Hardinge and Chorus CEO Mark Aue for hosting the event, alongside great stories, insights and experiences from the Expo's Senior Co-design group: Judy Blakey, Ian Fraser and Pam Martin! Senior Kiwis are often excluded from the very development in technology and innovation that can benefit them most, from the latest health aid and tech to simple everyday devices and gadgets to support a more connected life. Through the partnership with Digital Seniors, our Chorusters have been volunteering through community hub events, and will be showing up this weekend to continue the mission to turn this senior exclusion problem around.

Did you know that New Zealand is one of the highest water use countries in the world? And with 22% of our water lost to leaks, it's not just our consumption that's high. How do we fix this? New Zealand Infrastructure Commission, Te Waihanga shares these statistics in their 'Valuing Water' report, and suggests that volumetric or usage metering can contribute to quicker leak detection, lower water consumption, and more equitable outcomes for consumers. Neura has smart metering solutions that can help, find out more here: https://lnkd.in/gFY76EpU

Our fibre network hit a new peak traffic record with a whopping 5.2Tbps on Saturday with the release of Fortnite Chapter 2 Remix at 7 pm. Add in the thousands of households streaming the Black Caps, Kiwis, and All Blacks test matches and you’ve got an action-packed weekend online across New Zealand. Thanks to our congestion-free network, users streaming and gaming on fibre enjoyed a seamless and reliable connection. When we say New Zealand runs on fibre – we mean it!
A new Peak Traffic record on the Chorus NZ Limited Fibre network was set on Saturday night. Fortnite Remix landed at 7PM and contributed to a new record of 5.2Tbps. Chorus operates a #CongestionFree network so those streaming the Black Caps, Kiwis and All Blacks test matches were not impacted.

Huge thanks to Deloitte for inviting us this morning. It's great to see how their latest report speaks to the economic value of fibre, the essential digital backbone of New Zealand 🙌🌏
Awesome morning taking part in Deloitte's Unleashing Fibre report launch with Grant Frear, Bridget Snelling, Liza Van der Merwe, and Stephen Knightly. The report reveals our national fibre infrastructure has the potential to contribute an additional $163 billion to our economy by 2033 - which kicked off our engaging panel discussion around the impact and value of fibre for unlocking productivity benefits and setting up Kiwi businesses for success on the world stage. But we can't stop here. As a nation, we need the same ambition and foresight as we had 14 years ago when the government initiated the Ultra-Fibre Broadband rollout, and invest in the future of New Zealand. Reliable, quality, high-capacity internet is not a luxury or nice-to-have; it is essential future-proof infrastructure that enables us to compete globally and drive innovation and productivity locally. A critical aspect of realising these economic benefits is also expanding fibre infrastructure to 95 per cent of the country. Otherwise, New Zealand risks leaving $17 billion in future productivity benefits on the table. See the full report: https://lnkd.in/gHKebCvm

🌐 Empowering the community, one connection at a time🌐 In July, our team had a blast with our partner Digital Seniors at community pop-up hubs, supporting seniors with one-on-one coaching through their tech needs. From setting up email accounts, to helping with smartphone navigation to saving precious family photos, and more – we saw first-hand how improving digital literacy and building confidence can make a real impact. This collaboration is just the beginning. Mark your calendars for the first-ever Digital Seniors Tech Expo on 10 November in Auckland 🎉 Designed with seniors, for seniors, the expo is a showcase of how digital technology can support an active, healthy, and connected lifestyle. We’re proud to be a platinum sponsor of the expo and supporting more seniors on their digital technology journey. For more info, head here: https://lnkd.in/gSmke55c
