  • We’ve completed the installation of two beautifully crafted bench seats at the Takapūneke memorial grounds in Akaroa. These benches are more than just seating, they're a place of reflection and connection to the history and heritage of this significant site. Our team has been honoured to contribute to the ongoing work at Takapūneke, creating a space that invites the community and visitors alike to pause and remember the history of this place. • We’re starting to wrap up work at the Marshalling Yard, located in Waitohi, Picton. Part of our larger works in the area, the Marshalling Yard is the latest in a string of projects we’ve undertaken for KiwiRail. Overseen by Civil Operations Manager Kenley Faulkner, the project included the demolition of the old Mechanical Depot, key civil work, drainage work, cement stabilizing, electrical reticulation, fencing, resurfacing and more. Check out these before and after images (taken only 10 weeks apart). The Marshalling Yard isn’t the only project we’ve been working on for KiwiRail in Picton. Just around the corner, Site Manager Scott Guthrie and his team have been hard at work completing works around the new refueling building for the trains to pass through. This new building will connect to the same tracks as another project we recently completed, the new Mechanical Depot. This will allow trains to pass straight from maintenance to refueling without fuss. Want to see what else we’ve been working on? Check out some more projects here. #Civil #Project #Team #Picton

  • A toast to the last quarter! We recently celebrated our final ‘Toast’ for the year. Every few months, staff from all over the country gather to share milestones and accomplishments. It’s a chance to reflect on the hard work, challenges overcome, and goals achieved. From project completions to rewarding staff for exemplary work, every success is celebrated. With new faces joining and familiar ones reuniting, each 'Toast' reminds us of the importance of teamwork in everything we do. Congratulations to our Values Award winners: Rochelle Faulkner, Nemani Waqa, Mike McFadyen and Jeremy Estrella. Here’s to another successful quarter. 🎉 #Celebration #Staff #Milestones #Projects #BBQ

  • In collaboration with Blind Low Vision NZ, we’re happy to recognise White Cane Day on October 15th. It’s a reminder of the critical role architects and developers play in creating accessible and inclusive spaces for all users, including the blind and low vision community. Specifying TGSI in your designs not only complies with regulations but ensures safety and independence for all when accessing your spaces. • We’re passionate about making spaces safer and more accessible for everyone. Our recent project at the Resido apartments, Sylvia Park, Auckland, is a great example of how tactile solutions can benefit the community. In collaboration with Flooring Junction, Lovich Floors Ltd, and Hills Commercial Floors, we installed over 1000 meters of stair nosings and tactile indicators to enhance accessibility and safety across stairways and walkways. Key installations: • Tredfx SBR103 Stair Nosings: Slip-resistant and tough, ideal for busy areas. • TacStud SH10N Stainless-Steel Tactile Studs: Helping visually impaired individuals while blending with modern designs. • TacStud Yellow Polyurethane Studs: Added to outdoor steps for extra visibility and safety. Tactile indicators are essential for helping low-vision residents navigate public spaces with confidence. They promote independence and inclusivity. By including tactile solutions, architects can ensure their designs meet safety standards and benefit the wider community. Interested in improving safety and accessibility on your next project? Let’s connect! Stay tuned for some exciting updates... #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #SafetyFirst #TactileSolutions #SylviaPark #Collaboration #TotalTactilez

We’re thrilled to share the latest progress on our demolition and reinstatement project with KiwiRail, where the old maintenance depot is making way for the new vehicle marshalling yard. Our dedicated construction team, including HSQE Advisor David Harcus, is committed to delivering excellence in every phase of this complex project. Key Milestones: 🔹 Deconstruction with precision: The roof iron was carefully removed by hand, insulation stripped, and all electrical components dismantled. The building frame was taken down piece by piece with the expert support of HML Engineering using cranes. 🔹 Sustainability in action: Structural steel, roofing iron, and cladding have been salvaged and responsibly recycled, with 10 full skips (30m3) of materials sent offsite to Trellos, our local recycling partner. Our team is committed to minimising waste, ensuring materials from the demolition are sorted for recycling or repurposing whenever possible. We contribute to sustainability by giving these materials a second life. A big thank you to our collaborators, Doug Carter, Gus Burns, Jonathan Stewart, Simon Cave, and Rebecca McGrouther from KiwiRail, and to our iwi partners. Their support ensures we’re honouring cultural, environmental, and social values throughout this project. This effort is a testament to the power of collaboration and environmental responsibility, proving that together we can create impactful results with sustainability at the heart.
