The Government has announced an update to its plan for industry training and the future of vocational education and training (VET) in New Zealand. For details and ongoing updates please visit our VET news page at https://lnkd.in/gA23Vjdv. Further consultation is being undertaken on aspects of the changes, but please be assured we will be working to minimise disruption to our service for learners, employers or other industry stakeholders through 2025. Current and new apprenticeships and training programmes will be delivered and supported as normal. We will continue to update you all as more information becomes available.

This year has been one of incredible achievements at PowerNet, with both individual successes and outstanding team efforts to celebrate. 🌟 People: We’re immensely proud of the talent and dedication of our team, and 2024 has showcased the best of what PowerNet has to offer: Connexis Excellence Awards: Angelo Obus (Supply Electrician) took home not one, but two prestigious awards: Advanced Trainee of the Year and Overall Trainee of the Year. Kale Thompson (Apprentice Line Mechanic) earned the title of Distribution Trainee of the Year. Annual Connection Competition: Congratulations to the exceptional fault response team: Robert (Fred) Allan, Tyrel Gwynn, Sheamus McGuigan, Lincoln Deans, and Kurt Allan, for winning the Fault Response category at this year’s event in Te Awamutu, Waikato. Congratulations Taylor! 🏆 After three days of skills-testing tasks against eight other cable jointers from around the country, Taylor was placed first by the judges, with his Omexom co-worker Luke Perkins in second, and Zak Ramsey from Waipā Networks in third. It’s Te Wiki o te Reo Māori! (Māori Language Week, 14-21 September)! Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is an annual celebration for all New Zealanders to show their support for the Māori language. The theme for Te Wiki this year is ‘Ake ake ake – A Forever Language’. It represents the resilience, adaptability and endurance of te reo Māori. It also reflects the commitment New Zealanders have to embrace, learn and uplift te reo Māori now and into the future.
