This month, we're recognising Robert Toa for his outstanding commitment to safety on site! Rob ensures all small plant equipment is checked, safe, and ready to use every day. If there’s any issue, he reports it immediately and tags it out to keep everyone protected. Beyond his role, Rob leads by example—completing Take 5s before every task and stepping in wherever he's needed. Recently, he went above and beyond by distributing masks to protect colleagues from dust during stabilising works. Thank you, Rob, for being a true safety leader and keeping our team safe. #HealthandSafety #Proud #GreatPeople #Dempsey Wood

Today, we celebrate Dan and his incredible 10-year journey at Dempsey Wood. Starting as a graduate engineer, he quickly found his stride, transitioning from HSW Advisor to Site Engineer at The Landing. A defining moment in his career came when he took on the role of Project Manager at Whenuapai, followed by a key role in the Alliance. Now, as Resource Manager at Dempsey Wood, Dan has seen it all. Reflecting on the impact of colleagues, Dan credits mentors like Dan T and Simon for invaluable lessons and insights, along with the support of colleagues like Rae, Euan, and Poi. One of the most important lessons Dan has learned is how to work with people from all walks of life, understanding the nuances of different cultures, skill levels, and personalities. It’s all about being adaptable and learning from every opportunity. And for anyone just starting out, Dan advises: "Do the hard yards, take on the tasks others shy away from, and always look after your team—they’ll look after you in return." Thank you for your dedication and contributions, Dan! Here’s to your continued success at Dempsey Wood! #DempseyWood #CareerGrowth #DWVetClub

Recently, we hosted another group of university students for a site visit, providing them with a unique opportunity to observe civil engineering in action. These visits give students a rare opportunity to witness large-scale projects up close, helping them better understand the processes and coordination involved. A big thank you to the team members who shared their knowledge and experiences, making these visits both informative and inspiring. #DempseyWood #WorkingTogetherOnTomorrow

Looking back at a project completed in 2020 as part of Auckland Transport's Shared Path Initiative, where Dempsey Wood played a key role in constructing a 2.9km cycleway and footpath, providing safer, more direct routes for cyclists and pedestrians. A highlight of the project was the installation of a 25-meter single-span steel bridge over the St Jude Street rail crossing. Our team used a 450-tonne crane to lift the 21-tonne bridge 51 meters into place. Carefully positioned within tight spaces between apartment buildings and residential housing, the bridge was installed with precision, crossing over both the railway corridor and a main road to ensure a seamless fit. This project continues to serve Auckland’s communities, showcasing Dempsey Wood's commitment to quality infrastructure and safe transport solutions. #DempseyWood #Bridge #Cycleway #WorkingTogetherOnTomorrow
