This week, our solar group manager Luis Porto visited the Ashburton solar farms with our partner Lightyears Solar and chatted to Anisha Satya about the importance of supporting independent solar developments and renewable energy in Aotearoa New Zealand. "Historically, energy generation has been kept to really big sites, like hydro sites or wind farms, and are owned by only a few players - the ‘gentailers’. We're proud to see our client Go Media NZ take an amazing step in their sustainability journey with the installation of over 1,700 solar panels! Our awesome partner Endless Energy are managing this installation and expect the panels to cover ~60% of the stadium's energy usage and reduce carbon emissions by up to 36 tonnes a year. In addition, solar will "significantly lower operational spending energy, reducing reliance on ratepayer funding". 🍃🏟️ New Zealand’s Large Venue of the Year will also soon be one of its greenest. The sun is shining at Go Media Stadium as we’re going solar! ☀️ Over 1,700 panels will be installed onto the roofs of the East and West Stand. The panels will help remove up to 36 tonnes of carbon emissions each year, saving the stadium at least $100k per year in energy spending. Go Media NZ
