The Teaching Council's 3-yearly election nominations are open until 30 December, so please make sure you share this post with your teacher whanau! As a self-managed profession, The Teaching Council's Governing Council (board) has 13 members, seven elected by the profession - representing ECE, primary, secondary and Initial Teacher Education (ITE), who are all practicing teachers, principals, working in ECE or ITE. The other six people are appointed by the Minister of Education to ensure the Governing Council is fully representative of the profession and has the collective expertise required for strong governance.
