  • 🎉 Celebrating 10 years of super weekends: working faster, smarter and harder! 🚧 Super weekends involve closing a section of road from Friday night to Monday morning, allowing crews to work continuously and efficiently. Our first super weekend project in Auckland took place in 2014 on Te Irirangi Drive, between Chapel Road and Ormiston Road. The recent Triangle Road project in west Auckland allowed our crews to combine a road rehabilitation with building a new bus lane and all the necessary enabling works. Most of the work was completed over three super weekends rather than 30 days. This approach increases the productivity of our crews and contractors, reduces costs for things like traffic management and limits disruption for our communities, residents, and businesses. Triangle Road super weekend project, by the numbers: 📅 3 weekends 👷 130 crew and team members 🛣️ 400m road resealed ⚫ 700 tonne asphalt laid 🚚 800m3 concrete poured ⬆️ 4,000 tonne road surface dug up 🕜 4,600 manhours worked

  • Throughout October, we walked and ran in support of the Black Dog Institute's One Foot Forward Campaign, and the 1 in 5 Australians who experience a mental illness each year. 🤲 Together we raised more than $40,000 and moved nearly 5,000 kilometres. 🏃♂️ Our very own Brenton Birtchnell challenged himself to move more than 110 kilometres in 24-hours, raising more than $30,000 – making him the highest individual fundraiser for the third year running! 👏 We’re proud to contribute to the Black Dog Institutes efforts to put ground-breaking mental health treatments, education, and digital services in the hands of the people who need them most. Meet our 'WOW' of the week, Olivia Pietrobon from Fulton Hogan 👷♀️🌟 ❓ What do you enjoy most about working in civil? 👉🏼 I love that everyday is different. Even though you are working on the same project, each day has a different focus. It sounds cliché but no two days are the same which keeps things interesting and engaging.   ❓ What advice for women interested in this field? 👉🏼 Civil construction is such a big field - if you are interested in this area, it is definitely worth pursuing a career. There are so many different roles and opportunities. You don't need to have a technical background to the right role either - the diverse opportunities mean that those without a degree or apprenticeship can also get their foot in the door.  ❓ How did you overcome early career challenges? 👉🏼 An early career challenge for me was my confidence in the technical space. I was nervous to speak out in meetings and on site as I didn’t want to be wrong. I leant heavily on experienced engineers and my site team to talk through my thoughts and learnt a lot. They were all patient and happy to help me understand more about the industry as I had little experience. ❓ If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go? 👉🏼 I would love to go to Peru and do the Inca trail to see Machu Picchu. It is unlike any place I have visited before and I would love to see and learn all the history. #WOWinCivil #WomenOnWednesdays #WomenInCivil #CCF

  • 🚧 Blink and you’ll miss it! The final beam lift has been completed at Station Street, Beaconsfield where construction of the new road bridge is racing along.   🏗 37 beams, each weighing about 61 tonnes, have been installed using a 650-tonne crane.   📸 Check out the snaps below to see the crane lift in action!

  • We are particularly proud of the Willowbank Quarry. Recognised with the 2023 MIMICO Environmental Award, its fish ladder enables native and introduced fish and invertebrates to reach the upper catchments of the hills behind Wellington where the quarry is sited. The passage is 300m long, with 17 fish resting pools and 54 baffles. The baffles simulate rocks, providing both a resting place for fish and a means of oxygenating the water by creating ripples and turbulence. NZ Chief Executive Ben Hayward (far right), GM Upper North Island, Stephen Lowe (left), GM South Island Infrastructure Services, Scott Meehan (second left) and GM Lower North Island, Blair Gregory (second right), recently joined Willowbank Quarry Manager, Shane Hagai (centre), on site. Ben Hayward says Willowbank Quarry is improving an important aspect of the natural environment. “Prior to receiving the license to operate the quarry, the waterway had disappeared below ground through fractured rock. There is now a waterway with multiple resting pools and baffles that enables fish to pass under any conditions, from low water to storm-generated high-water flows,” Ben says. “This is a good example of how a physical environment can be enhanced while meeting the need for high-quality aggregate in a region with relatively limited quarry resources.” Since completing the ladder, an ecologist’s eDNA test has identified the presence of short fin eels in the waterway. The plan is to repeat eDNA testing periodically. Willowbank Quarry is on the 650ha Willowbank Farm near the top of the Pauatahanui and Hutt River catchments. The fish ladder was commenced by HEB Construction during the Transmission Gully project and was completed by Fulton Hogan. With the completion of Transmission Gully, Fulton Hogan has partnered with Willowbank Farm Ltd for a 35-year consent to operate the quarry.

  • 🚧 Earlier this month we hosted our annual ‘A Day in Her Boots’ event in Melbourne, where we welcomed more than 50 female-identifying students to explore our industry firsthand. 🏗 From an engaging site visit to our Dandenong asphalt plant, to taking part in a lab activity to getting up close and personal with our operations via a plant demonstration and finishing with a virtual site tour and mini digger challenge, the day showcased the diverse careers in our sector. 🙌 A special shout out to our volunteers and organisers for bringing the day to life - your efforts enriched the students' experiences and laid the groundwork for the future of our industry. 💪 Here's to more empowering events like this in shaping the next generation of female leaders! #AdayInHerBoots2024 #FultonHogan #Construction #Futureleaders Nina McHardy Danni Barnett Xenia Bosancic Christine Hogan Viviana Lloyd Jemma Walshe Matt Allen Ruby Lewis Kristina Ung

There’s no doubt about it, Telstra InfraCo’s intercity fibre network build is a complex infrastructure project due to the sheer scale and diversity of the Australian landscapes it traverses. We’re fortunate to have some of the country’s most experienced telecommunications infrastructure professionals working to build this new, national, sovereign fibre backbone. We currently have construction crews located across NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and WA. This video offers insights into the working lives of our construction crews from Telstra InfraCo, Ventia and Fulton Hogan who are working in some of the most remote and rugged parts of the country to build this world-class fibre network. #intercityfibre #fibre #telecommunications #infrastructure #digitaleconomy #FultonHogan #Ventia
