This site has faced significant challenges, including vandalism, squatting, illegal dumping, and even arson. Now, it’s time to make way for a safer and cleaner future. Tutu and the team are carefully removing asbestos to ensure a safe working environment before demolition begins. By managing hazardous materials responsibly, we’re not only protecting our crew but also preventing further environmental contamination. Once the site is clear, our demolition team will move in to complete the job efficiently and safely. Proud to be part of a project that prioritises safety, compliance, and community wellbeing. #HendersonDemolition #AsbestosRemoval #SafeDemolition #BuildingBetterEnvironments

Health and safety are at the core of everything we do, and open, honest communication is key to keeping our team safe on site. This morning’s meeting was a great opportunity to discuss key safety updates, share insights, and ensure everyone is on the same page. A big thank you to the team for their engagement—and to Roti Bros for the fresh pies, a well-earned treat to start the day! #SafetyFirst #Teamwork #HendersonDemolition

Thorough remediation in action! 🚧 During a routine soil removal, a buried pipe was uncovered and later confirmed to contain asbestos. Our team responded swiftly, ensuring the safe removal of the pipe, the contaminated stockpile, and an additional soil scrape to eliminate any residual contamination. Great work by the team, demonstrating precision and commitment to safety. 👷♂️🔶 #AsbestosRemoval #ContaminationControl #SafetyFirst

Valuable insights from the Northern Safety Liaison Group meeting at Site Safe New Zealand Inc's Onehunga branch. Discussions covered PCBU & Officers’ duties and where they overlap, AI’s role in worksite safety, and key lessons from a Category A structural steel rollover incident. WorkSafe’s General Inspectorate also provided clarifications on HSWA clauses and answered industry questions. Great to connect with others in the sector and continue improving safety standards across our worksites. #WorkplaceSafety #HealthAndSafety #SiteSafeNZ #WorkSafeNZ

Optimising efficiency while prioritising safety! With additional propping in place, our team can now use a compact excavator to remove planter boxes from this suspended slab. Previously, weight limitations required manual removal, but this approach significantly speeds up the process while reducing manual handling risks for our crew. #Innovation #WorkplaceSafety #DemolitionSolutions

At Henderson Demolition, we believe in investing in our people. That’s why we’ve partnered with Solomon Group NZ to deliver Te Ara ki te Kaha, a customised 40-hour training programme designed to strengthen workplace safety, leadership, and technical skills. With a Tongan instructor leading the sessions and a foundation in Māori and Pasifika values, we’re ensuring greater engagement and cultural alignment. This initiative empowers 40 of our full-time team members, helping them grow professionally while enhancing safety and efficiency on-site. Strong teams build strong futures—this is just the beginning. #TeAraKiTeKaha #WorkforceDevelopment #DemolitionIndustry #TrainingForSuccess

Preserving materials for a sustainable future. 🧱 Our team carefully salvaged bricks from a recent demolition, allowing our client to maintain colour consistency in future projects while reducing waste. A great example of how strategic demolition can support sustainability and resource efficiency. ♻️ #SustainableDemolition #CircularEconomy #HendersonDemolition

Great work by Peau and the team on this beam removal! Before cutting could take place, the crew manually stripped around the beam to ensure it was properly propped and supported. Careful planning and hands-on effort made for a safe and efficient removal. Well done, team! #Demolition #Teamwork #SafeRemoval #HendersonDemolition

Penny-wise, pound foolish... Polystyrene is commonly used in construction to reduce weight and minimise concrete use, offering cost and material savings during the build. However, at the end of a structure’s life, disposal presents significant challenges. In most cases, polystyrene is bonded to concrete, making separation difficult and leading to high disposal costs—often thousands of dollars per tonne. On this project, a plastic liner was placed between the polystyrene and concrete, allowing for easier separation. This is a rare but valuable design choice that significantly improves waste management at the end of a building’s lifecycle. Ideally polystyrene wouldn't be used at all, but smarter planning is the next best thing. As the industry moves towards more sustainable practices, considering end-of-life disposal during construction can help reduce overall costs and environmental impact. #ConstructionWaste #WasteManagement #Polystyrene #Deconstruction #EnvironmentalImpact #Recycling #DemolitionIndustry
