We’re thrilled to share our recent refurbishment project at Pukehuia Park Pavilion. Our team at Holmes were engaged by Wellington City Council on this project, starting with demolition and then moving on to install a brand-new roof, exterior framing, walls, and weathertight windows and doors. The results speak for themselves!

Did You Know? Wellington Free Ambulance has a remarkable origin story! Back in 1927, Sir Charles Norwood, the Mayor of Wellington, encountered an injured man on Lambton Quay. The man, cold and in pain, refused an ambulance because he couldn’t afford it. Sir Charles, driven by compassion, covered the man with his coat, called the ambulance, and paid for it himself. This act of kindness is what inspired the beginning of our uniquely free ambulance service. Sir Charles believed in a city where emergencies needn’t cost lives or money. To keep this life saving service free for everyone, WFA needs to fundraise over $8m annually. We at Holmes Construction are incredibly proud to be part of the Wellington Free Ambulance Support Crew for the third year in a row. We are delighted to handover our Waikanae Beach project to very happy clients this month. Holmes undertook the refurbishment of the existing bach, the construction of a new private dwelling connected to the original building by a spacious covered deck and added a new garage and workshop. Our site team also nailed the landscaping, finishing every detail to perfection. Stellar work to all involved!
