  • Today is International Anti-Corruption Day 2024. This year’s theme highlights the role of young guardians of integrity in raising awareness about corruption and its impact on their communities. It’s also a significant milestone, marking the 21st anniversary of the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). https://lnkd.in/gVxbAZ8 While New Zealand is known for its strong integrity systems, there’s no room for complacency. Transparency International New Zealand’s recent findings also reveal challenges, including: - Escalating fraud, with estimated losses between $194 million and $2.3 billion. - Issues with political party funding, lobbying transparency, and public sector accountability. - Vulnerabilities in integrity systems that expose us to global corrupt business networks. TINZ Research Report August 2024: https://lnkd.in/g8wsmAxw On this day, we’re reminded of the urgent need for coordinated anti-corruption strategies. Corruption is not just a global issue—it impacts us locally. Let’s stand together to protect the integrity of Aotearoa. Special thanks to Julie Haggie, Chief Executive of Transparency International New Zealand, for providing these vital insights. #UnitedAgainstCorruption #AntiCorruptionDay #IntegrityMatters #IIANZ #TINZ
