  • Each year we present awards to acknowledge the exceptional commitment to the Mackersy Property values of integrity, innovation and collaboration made by our team. Management Accountant, Ely Uemura has been named Rookie of the Year for 2024. This award recognises a new starter at Mackersy Property who has added considerable value and made a positive impact on the company for both our team and investors. Ely originally joined our team as maternity cover and has since proven to be an excellent team member. Her industry-specific knowledge and understanding of commercial property management has significantly contributed to the finance team's efficiency. Mackersy Property's MVP 2024 Award rightfully goes to Chief Financial Officer, Nick Thornton. Nick is an integral source of information and contributes his expertise to the business at any time, while also balancing his busy finance team and family commitments. His experience, positivity, and can-do attitude have made him an invaluable leader in our finance department. The "Stepping Up" Award 2024 is awarded to Accountant Casey Milne. Casey is always available to help any team member, regardless of the issue, and has stepped up immensely for the Finance team this year. Her dedication, knowledge, and willingness to help makes her an invaluable asset to both the Finance team and the wider MP team. Team of the Year 2024 was awarded to our Investor Relations & Operations Team for their dedication to our investors. Despite recent challenges, the team has worked extremely well together, with special recognition to Investor Relations Team Leader Jenna Bradley, for her efforts in upskilling the team and fostering a positive internal culture. A big thank you to this year’s recipients for all your hard work. We appreciate you! #team #awards #commercialproperty #investment

  • Mackersy Property’s A-Z Guide Explained: 🔸Official Cash Rate (OCR) The OCR, short for Official Cash Rate is the interest rate set by the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) for overnight transactions between banks. It serves as a benchmark for other interest rates in the economy, including those for mortgages, loans, term deposits and savings accounts.   The OCR is the key monetary policy tool used by the RBNZ to influence the cost of borrowing, which in turn effects: ▪️ Interest rates: Banks set their interest rates for loans and deposits based on the OCR. For example, if the OCR increases, it makes it more expensive for banks to borrow money so they pass these increased costs to their customers.  ▪️ Inflation: The RBNZ aims to keep inflation between 1% and 3%. When the OCR increases, it can help to reduce inflation by encouraging people to save more and spend less. In recent years, the OCR has been adjusted multiple times in response to economic conditions. After a period of elevated rates, November 2024 saw the OCR reduce to 4.25% to support economic stability, as inflation moves closer to the midpoint of the inflation target range.   The RBNZ's Monetary Policy Committee reviews the OCR seven times a year, ensuring it remains aligned with the economic goals of maintaining low and stable inflation and supporting employment. As global and domestic economic conditions evolve, further adjustments to the OCR may be necessary to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
