McKay is delighted to share that we have been selected as a finalist in the 2024 Master Electricians Excellence Awards. We are grateful to be recognised in the Project Award Under $1 million category for our role as the head electrical contractor on the NIWA Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) project in Ruakākā. Project Supervisor, Johnny Wilkinson shared: “I would like to acknowledge the team and the effort that went into completing this project to a very high standard, it is an awesome feat to be selected as a finalist in this competition” The NIWA Kingfish Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) project was the first of its kind in New Zealand. It was designed to demonstrate the commercial viability of land-based aquaculture, aiming to produce over 600 tonnes (a quarter of a million) of yellow-tailed kingfish to market size per year. The project required an extensive electrical scope to support efficient operations and sustainable impact. As the electrical contractor for the project, McKay worked closely with the Head Contractor CB Civil to innovate design elements and achieve an improved end product for the client. We look forward to joining the other finalists at the Gala Awards Dinner in Auckland on Friday, 25 October. #Master Electricians New Zealand #Electrician #Electricalengineering #Northland #NewZealand #Awards #Finalist

Earlier this week, World EV Day™ celebrated its fifth year of acknowledgment. Like many companies in New Zealand and across the globe, McKay began its transition towards generating a lower carbon footprint many years ago, with the adoption of EV and Hybrid vehicles being a significant part of the transition. Now accounting for 20% of our fleet throughout New Zealand, our EV and Hybrid vehicles prevent approximately 352kg of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere each month. A number that we plan to grow over time as we continue to evaluate the environmental and social impact of our fleet sustainability. Read more about our adoption of EV's on our latest blog post. #sustainability #decarbonisation #EV #DriveChange #worldevday #electric #electricvehicles

We take this opportunity to acknowledge the excellent performance of McKay apprentices Nikau Heke, Cody Clapham, and Ethan Meenehan, who each demonstrated a fantastic level of ability and professionalism throughout the challenge. We also congratulate Nikau Heke for achieving 1st place in the Commercial/Domestic Division of the competition. McKay is delighted to share the return of Lauren Faithfull as Manager Renewables, following her recent return from maternity leave after welcoming her daughter six months ago.   During Lauren's absence, the responsibilities of Manager Renewables were capably handled by Renewables Project Manager, Mathew Smith, who assumed the role of Acting Manager Renewables. Throughout this period, Mathew achieved significant milestones, while delivering the successful completion of multiple renewable energy projects. Mathew also played a crucial role in expanding McKay's Renewable Division with multiple new team members joining throughout the year.   As Lauren resumes her position, we would like to extend our congratulations and gratitude to Mathew for his outstanding accomplishments during the past 6 months. We look forward to seeing the collaboration between Lauren and Mathew as they combine their expertise to drive McKay's Renewable Division towards a successful future. #renewables #renewableenergy #sustainability #newzealand #solarenergy #solar
