FRIDAY FAQ's: Is your business making a loss? Q: Business is slow and my business is making a loss, do I still have to pay income tax? A: If your business makes a loss for the full tax year, you do not have to pay income tax for that year. Talk to us to help manage your tax if you are paying provisional tax because of profits in prior years but think your profit will be less this year. Q: What are our options if we are making a loss? A: There are a couple of things you can do: 1. Carry the loss forward to the next tax year to offset its income 2. Transfer the loss to another company Q: What happens with the loss if we are a look-through company? A: If your company is a look-through company (LTC) any losses don’t stay with the company. Instead, these losses are passed on to you and any other owners (shareholders). You and other shareholders can use these losses to reduce your personal taxes. If your company loses money, you have options to use those losses to reduce the amount of tax you or your other companies will have to pay in the future. Let us help you turn losses into profit. Get in touch with us today!

FRIDAY FAQ's: Cloud-based payroll systems Q: Is there a way for my employees to find out how much leave they have without asking me every week? A: Yes, cloud-based payroll systems give employees easy access to their leave balances. Employees can log in to the self-service portal anytime to view their remaining leave. Q: How does the system save time for both employers and employees? A: The cloud-based payroll system is a valuable timesaver for everyone. It eliminates the need for paper leave application forms by allowing employees to: 1. Log In Easily: Access the self-service portal from any device. 2. View Leave Balances Instantly: Check their remaining leave in the "Leave" or "Time Off" section. 3. Submit Leave Requests Online: Apply for leave directly through the portal and have it approved by a manager. 4. Track Approvals in Real-Time: See the status of their requests immediately. 5. Complete Timesheets on an App If you would like more information on cloud-based payroll systems, get in touch today.
