🌟 Exciting news! I'm travelling to Budapest, Hungary! 🌍✈️ 🎉 I'm thrilled to announce that I've been selected as one of 80 participants (out of 4,300 applicants!) for the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS) Capacity Building Programme 2024! This week, I'm going to Budapest, Hungary for an in-person training seminar, where I'll be diving deep into Youth, Digitalisation, and Intercultural Dialogue. Traveling the world has always been a dream of mine, and achieving my first solo international adventure beyond the Pacific region through this incredible opportunity with ASEF fills my heart with joy and gratitude. 🇭🇺💫 As a current Komiti Member of Pasifika Fusion, I'm honoured to represent our intergenerational, Pacific-led initiative on this global stage. I am deeply grateful to be able to continue and build on the foundations and legacies that many have initiated and grown. Pasifika Fusion would not be what it is today without the incredible work of our Pacific community leaders, many who have taught me and inspired me in my journey as a tama'ita'i Samoa (Samoan woman). I'm excited to bring back valuable knowledge and skills to share with our Pacific youth, communities, and islands. 🌺 During this summit, I look forward to engaging in meaningful discussions about Society 5.0. This forward-thinking concept of a centred society balances economic progress with solving social problems—a highly relevant topic for our Pacific region and the challenges we face today. 💡 I'm eager to explore how we can use technology and innovation to address our unique issues while preserving our cultural values. I'm grateful for this incredible opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute to our global community for a better tomorrow! 🙏 A special thank you to Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ Rangatahi Leadership Opportunities Database (RLOD) for advertising this opportunity - without incredible by youth, for youth initiatives like RLOD, I would have never of known about such opportunities. Also to Linnéa Regnell and Freya Chow-Paul, who have been amazing coordinators and mentors of ASEFLYS. Lastly, to my dear friend Faiesea Ah Chee for her encouragement in being brave and applying for big opportunities I could only dream of - here's to taking Samoa to the world! 🇼🇸 #AsiaEuropeFoundation #YoungLeaders #PacificRepresentation #GlobalLeadership #PasifikaFusion #InternationalSummit #PersonalGrowth #CommunityDevelopment #Society5.0 #FutureOfSociety #TechnologyForGood #PacificInnovation

Breaking barriers and sharing opportunities with the Rangatahi Leadership Database Oppitunities team 🤎 Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ’s network and various projects and programmes are an. example of what happens when collective passion turns into action. From this, better outcomes are created by changing the processes in which opportunities and relationships are built. So honoured to have been invited to celebrate the significant achievements and milestones of the Rangatahi Leadership Opportunities Database (RLOD). It was amazing to finally meet the amazing Michelle Huang, Marie Ysabel Landingin and Buua Redfern, reunite with my YWCA sisters Rana Arif & Lushomo Thebe and to meet Pok Wei-Heng卜炜衡, PIEMA, Katherine Chen and Ogonna Nweke. I am truly grateful to have benefited from RLOD’s platform which makes leadership opportunities and information more accessible to our young leaders of today and tomorrow. I strongly encourage everyone to get involved or check out RLOD: https://lnkd.in/ghzTGi3m whether you’re an eager young leader looking for opportunities or someone who has opportunities for young people. Behind the scenes from last Saturday’s RLOD Morning Tea in Tāmakai Makaurau, where our team braved the rain and wind 🌧️🌬️ to celebrate a key milestone for the Rangatahi Leadership Opportunities Database (RLOD). As we wrap up the 'seed' phase of this project, the morning tea was a chance for us to reflect on how far we've come and to look ahead at the future of the RLOD as a community asset and shared resource for young leaders in Aotearoa. 🎉 We also spent the morning filming a video to capture the RLOD story and our vision for the future – stay tuned for its release next month! 🎥✨ A massive mihi to all our volunteers and supporters who have been part of this journey. 💛 Launched by Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ during Youth Week in 2022, the RLOD is Aotearoa NZ’s first free, one-stop platform connecting rangatahi with information on leadership opportunities. This kaupapa is about ensuring all young people, regardless of their background, have the chance to pursue leadership opportunities that build their confidence, enhance their visibility, and foster a sense of belonging. 🌱 To bring this vision to life, we recognised the need for all rangatahi to have equal access to information about what opportunities exist and how to apply. Access to information is powerful – especially for those who have historically been underrepresented in leadership spaces, as it unlocks new possibilities and enables everyone to realise their full potential.🔓🔑 A special thank you to The Tindall Foundation for their multi-year support, which has made this project possible. 🙌 As we move forward, Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ is proud to continue serving as kaitiaki of this platform and supporting the next generation of leaders in Aotearoa. Check out some highlights from the day, and keep an eye out for our upcoming video showcasing our journey and aspirations for the future! 👀💫 P.S. If you haven’t yet explored the RLOD, or if you know of any young person (under 35) – whether they’re your children, neighbours, students, or friends – who could benefit from this resource, please let them know! Visit us at https://lnkd.in/g_HbSCBw. 🌟 #BreakBarriersShareOpportunities #LeadershipOpportunities #RangatahiLeadership #CommunityImpact #RLOD #YouthLeadership #Aotearoa

💫 Last Friday evening, we had the pleasure of bringing our members together to honour the spirit of Matariki at our inaugural Annual Matariki Reunion. ✨ Here are some special moments from the night 🌌✨ The evening began with a mihi whakatau to welcome new members, reminding us of who we are – our kaupapa, objectives, initiatives, values, and aspirations. Together, we reflected on the past, celebrated achievements, and set our intentions for the upcoming year. It was incredible to see so many members in traditional cultural attire, bringing to life the rich cultural diversity within our community. Despite our varied backgrounds, we were all united by our shared values, goals, and hopes for the future of our beautiful home in Aotearoa. The event highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for different communities to connect and build authentic relationships across cultures (whanaungatanga), investing in a shared sense of community, identity, and belonging. This is especially important today, when the world feels increasingly divided and polarised, as we strive to strengthen our social fabric and reinforce our belief in the power of unity and solidarity. 🌟💫 #Community #AnnualMatarikiReunion #Diversity #Unity #Belonging #Whanaungatanga #Kotahitanga #Manaakitanga

  • 🌟 Last week, our 3 Kapu Kawhe Selection Panel convened to review, select, and pair our mentees for the 2024 3 Kapu Kawhe Programme. A massive mihi to our incredible panellists for their time, expertise, kaitiakitanga, and tautoko throughout the process.🌟 We were thrilled to welcome Teresa Pollard to the 3 Kapu Kawhe whānau as a member of the 2024 selection panel 🙌. Teresa is a Digital Consultant, virtual Chief Digital Officer, and Director. She has 25 years of experience in the technology sector, leading teams in Singapore, New York, and New Zealand. Recently named one of the top 20 CIOs across New Zealand, Teresa is known for her commitment to equity while integrating digital technologies to achieve commercial growth with purpose, balancing profit with a positive impact that is sustainable for both the planet and people. Teresa is Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Kahu ki Whaingaroa, and Ngāti Kauwhata. She is a wife and mother of pre-teens, based in Auckland. This year, we also deeply valued having Independent Director, Rob Campbell, on the selection panel. As one of our inaugural mentors, Rob brought his rich experience and insights from the perspective of a programme participant. Finally, it was wonderful to have Ranjna Patel, Independent Director and Founder of Tāmaki Health and Gandhi Nivas, along with Haylee Putaranui (She/Her/Ia), Director of Māori Strategy at Fonterra, two mana wāhine who are strong champions of this kaupapa, return to the selection panel with their insights and experience from last year. 🎉🎉🎉 3 Kapu Kawhe is a short-term, cross-cultural mentoring initiative pairing ethnically diverse young leaders with experienced NZ executives for three transformative conversations. Mentees pay it forward by having three cups of coffee with a student leader, creating a ripple effect that supports the development of young, diverse leaders across generations. 🌏 The programme draws on te ao Māori concepts of whakawhanaungatanga (building connections) and ako (two-way learning), recognising the mutual growth and learning between mentors and mentees. 🌱 https://lnkd.in/dpVfiD96

Today is the second anniversary of the Rangatahi Leadership Opportunities Database! 🙌🏼🥳 We’re celebrating two years of making information on youth leadership more transparent, fair, and accessible for all rangatahi in Aotearoa New Zealand 🇳🇿🌱 We recognise that many young people face barriers in accessing information about what opportunities are out there, especially young people from migrant backgrounds, first-generation students, and those attending lower decile schools. Through the Rangatahi Leadership Opportunities Database (RLOD), we strive to break down this information barrier. By breaking down barriers to information, we unlock a world of shared opportunities and make the playing field fairer for everyone. To celebrate, we’ve launched our sparkly, new-and-improved website, with new resources to share with your communities – check it out here: https://lnkd.in/egNBSVkx! ✨ Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou to the talented creatives who turned our vision into reality: Cultigraphy & SANA Creative Studio🚀 A huge mihi, also, to The Tindall Foundation for partnering with us on this work over the past few years. Without your support, none of this would be possible. You have been instrumental in backing and supporting this kaupapa to get off the ground. Finally, a massive thank you to our community of volunteers, supporters, champions, and change-makers for being part of the journey so far 💛 the future looks bright!
