Hot on the heels of a record-breaking Ready to Run Sale, the cream of New Zealand’s yearling crop has been revealed for Karaka 2025. 💥 The world-renowned week of selling in late January is the shop window for the thoroughbred talent that New Zealand produces, and that trend is set to continue with world-class catalogues unveiled. The 99th National Yearling Sales Series will take place at Karaka from Sunday 26 January to Thursday 30 January. The catalogues, which are now available to view online, contain an outstanding selection of 661 yearlings in Book 1 and another 427 in Book 2. 🐴 “Of all the Sales in Australasia this year, Karaka saw the biggest increase in average, turnover and median. That was really encouraging,” commented NZB’s Managing Director Andrew Seabrook. “We’re incredibly proud of the New Zealand-bred and Karaka graduate results over the last twelve months.” “After the record-breaking Sale last week, we are looking forward to seeing that momentum roll into Karaka 2025. Our team will be busy establishing the best buying bench possible from all markets.” Read more here 📰 : https://lnkd.in/gRkQ2whb

Blockbuster Sale as Ready to Run Records Tumble 🎞️ Expectations were exceeded at Karaka with tremendous results witnessed across two days of selling at NZB’S 2024 Ready to Run Sale, confirming the demand for proven racetrack results and quality New Zealand-prepared horses.🏇 After Day One’s blockbuster day including the record-breaking sale of a $1,650,000 two-year-old, momentum continued into the final day of selling which saw the total aggregate land at $38,593,500, a 10% increase on the 2023 record edition of the Sale.🎉 The clearance rate at the close of selling was a strong 78% with the average and median on par with last year’s remarkable results.👏 “I’m absolutely delighted with the buying bench we were able to assemble. We had hoped to match last year’s results but to exceed them has been a wonderful outcome,” commented NZB Managing Director Andrew Seabrook. “To achieve nearly 79% with the clearance rate, that’s really satisfying. We’ll be selling horses for the next few hours and into tomorrow so if we can get over 80% that would be fantastic.” A significant international presence was felt with Hong Kong-based buyers responsible for over $17.1 million in spend across 72 lots, while Australian buyers secured 67 lots for a total of $10.6 million in receipts. Emerging market Malaysia stamped their mark throughout the Sale, purchasing 40 horses for $3 million while the domestic market made a splash of $6.2 million for 57 lots. 🤯 The highlight on Day Two came when the much-anticipated son of Churchill, Lot 288, was knocked down to Patella Bloodstock for $775,000 from Riverrock Farm’s draft. “We are over the moon, he trialled really well before the breeze-ups,” commented Riverrock’s Chad Ormsby. “This Ready to Run Sale is our homeground too, it’s our local sale and we believe it’s the best sale of its kind, so we wanted to support the Sale as well.” Read more here 👉🏻📰: https://lnkd.in/gKmi8Saz

Day One of NZB’S 2024 Ready to Run Sale witnessed incredible results across the board, including an Australasian record for a two-year-old at auction.💥 The aggregate reached $18,547,000, an increase of 14% on the previous year at the same stage. Other key sale indicators also increased, with the average reaching $173,336 (+10%) and median settling at $90,000.👏🏻 The top two lots of the day were both progeny of Champion sire I Am Invincible, with Lot 174 (ex Shillelagh) setting a Southern Hemisphere record when selling for $1,650,000, and Lot 32 knocking down for $675,000. NZB’s Head Auctioneer Mike Kneebone commended today’s results.🗣 “It’s a remarkable Sale. It keeps pushing the boundaries.” “Yesterday at the welcome drinks, I looked around and thought the buying bench was as good and as strong as I’ve ever seen, and the results are starting to show for that.” “I’ve also been amazed with the Australian spend. They don’t normally buy two-year-olds, so to see them hunting up behind Hong Kong, only behind by a few million is remarkable. “But with results on the racetrack with the likes of Ceolwulf, Mr Brightside, Antino and Warmonger, it’s no surprise that they have come to play.” Read more over here📰: https://lnkd.in/gZBtwnJ6 #WhereWinningBegins✨

NZB’s 2024 Ready to Run Sale Breeze Ups are just three weeks away.🤩 Each two-year-old entered in the Sale will breeze on the same turf track at Te Rapa Racecourse over two consecutive days, making NZB’s Ready to Run Sale the only sale of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere that conducts its Breeze Ups solely on one turf surface, a favoured preference amongst buyers.🏇💨 Here are a few reasons why NZB's Breeze Ups are incomparable when it comes to buyer evaluations. ✅The conditions and consistent measurements provide a major advantage when it comes to statistical and video analysis. ✅ Penetrometer readings are taken of the track each day, plus ongoing recordings of weather conditions and wind anemometer readings throughout each day. ✅NZB's Breeze Up clip format includes additional footage near the 500 metre mark capturing horses before they fully extend into their gallop. Each horse is individually filmed and timed, with independently verified recordings. ✅NZB also films the mounting yard at Te Rapa, providing footage of all two-year-olds being paraded with the jockey mounted prior to their Breeze Up. The Schedule for the Breeze Ups will be available via www.nzb.co.nz the week prior to the event. The full Breeze Up clips and mounting yard footage will also be made available for viewing on NZB’s website by Friday 25 October, as well as streamed on Trackside in New Zealand, plus Racing.com in Australia. 📺 NZB's Jessie Gower gives you an exclusive behind the scenes at the NZB Breeze Up's right here 👇

A bright new talent in Malaysian racing stepped on to the stage at Selangor Turf Club - Official on Sunday, with Duma (NZ) (Too Darn Hot) making a stylish winning debut in the RM50,000 NZB Ready to Run Sale Trophy (1200m). 🏆 Duma was bred by Pencarrow Stud and was offered by Prima Park at the 2023 Ready to Run Sale, where Esther Quan Hui Lim bought him for $45,000. 🤝 Throughout the day, seven of nine winners were graduates of the Karaka Sales. NZB's Director of Business and Development Mike Kneebone and NZTM's Andrew Birch were in attendance for the feature day. “Today was remarkable. It has been at least ten years since Selangor had two restricted maiden races for four-year-olds and younger. "It was only possible because of the forward thinking by the Selangor Turf Club," commented Kneebone. Bold Runner (NZ), another 2023 Ready to Run graduate took out the NZB Airfreight Trophy (1200m). The son of the late Contributer and first foal from the Makfi mare McPhoebe was a $60,000 purchase by Tan Tiang Huat from Riverrock Farm's draft. 👨🏼⚖️💥 "I was very proud to see so many young NZB graduates parading. They are a credit to our vendors and NZB,” added Kneebone. "Our relationship with the Selangor Turf Club goes a long way back and that is extremely important in Asia, to gain trust and support of the clubs. "The NZB Ready to Run is becoming a remarkable success story." Read more here 📰 : https://lnkd.in/ghSK2msn
