One New Zealand Stadium's seating bowl will feature a unique kowhaiwhai pattern inspired by the hammerhead shark, in black and grey. The hammerhead shark represents strength, tenacity, speed and agility. The interior and exterior designs of for the stadium were created by local visual artist and graphic designer Morgan Darlison (Ngāi Tahu, Ngāti Porou, Tainui).

The Nix are coming to One New Zealand Stadium! The Wellington Phoenix Football Club and Venues Ōtautahi have committed to a three-year agreement which will see games in the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons played at One New Zealand Stadium! But first the Phoenix are making their return to Ōtautahi at Apollo Projects Stadium on Saturday, January 25th, when they take on the Central Coast Mariners! Venues Ōtautahi Chief Executive Caroline Harvie-Teare, said the announcement of the three-year agreement marked a significant step for football in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. “This agreement will see the first match played at Apollo Projects Stadium and the following matches across the remaining two years of the partnership at One New Zealand Stadium, showcasing just the beginning of the diverse range of sporting content we will host at the new venue,” Harvie-Teare said. “It’s fantastic to see football taking root in Christchurch, and we are grateful for the club’s commitment to the city ahead of One New Zealand Stadium’s opening. As we head into 2024, we are nearing the two year mark of Te Kaha Stadium opening in April 2026. The build is on track with the stadium now visually taking shape in the heart of the city, while the behind-the-scenes planning is also well underway. Venues Ōtautahi has estimated the economic impact of Te Kaha Stadium to be around $50 million per year for the Canterbury region.
