Heading out onto the water this summer? If you get into trouble, time means everything and having the ability to contact someone for help can literally save lives. That's why we're so pleased to be working with SpaceX to get their trailblazing tech into the hands of our customers, via our soon-to-launch One NZ Satellite TXT service. Once live, it will allow One NZ customers on an eligible phone plan and device to send and receive a text message from anywhere they can see the sky, no matter where they are in the country. In this NZ Herald article, Water Safety New Zealand’s Chief Executive Daniel Gerrard explains the potential of this new mobile service to help keep New Zealanders safer.

We’re Back from Microsoft Ignite in Chicago! Jack Deehan and Debac Manikandan have just returned from an incredible experience at Microsoft Ignite in Chicago, and they’re buzzing with inspiration! The event provided a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with customers, partners, and Microsoft staff. The energy and innovation at Ignite were unmatched, and our team is more motivated than ever to bring fresh ideas and solutions to the forefront. Trip highlights included showcasing our work at the MISA demo station, where we had meaningful conversations with industry leaders and innovators, and Debac stepping up as a thought leader by participating in a panel discussion on Security Copilot, sharing insights on the future of AI-powered security. We’re excited to apply what we’ve learned to continue driving impact for our customers and partners here in New Zealand and beyond. A big thank you to Microsoft for hosting such an inspiring event and to everyone who stopped by our booth or connected with us during Ignite. We’re looking forward to building on these conversations and innovations in the months ahead! James K. Maria Thomson Kiet Le Andrew Kosmadakis Venus Chan Nick Westbrook Vanessa Sorenson

Most businesses are looking to boost productivity. Iain Hook, Internet of Things (IoT) Solution Architect explains how our soon-to-launch Starlink Direct to Mobile service will help. There are high costs associated with having to manually check remote infrastructure and facilities. In the future, businesses will be able to use satellite-to-mobile connected IoT devices for more remote monitoring – and then decide if they need to transport in people or things. Our engineers are testing the initial text service right now, with data services coming at a later date. Find out more https://lnkd.in/gpz9VSMX

Halo oloketa (hello everyone) and happy Solomon Islands Pidgin Language Week. Celebrating Solomon Islands Pidgin in New Zealand for the first time is a truly special milestone, marking a moment of recognition and respect for this unique and vibrant language. We are absolutely thrilled to be promoting Solomon Aelan Pijin this week at One New Zealand. It is a celebration of identity, culture, and history, honouring the voices and stories of the Solomon Islands' communities here in New Zealand and around the world. Our One New Zealand Pasifika Collective lead our in-house celebrations this week, acknowledging the beauty of linguistic diversity and the power of language to unite, educate, and inspire us all. By working together, we recognize the significance of Solomon Island Pidgin—not only as a language but as a vital link to identity and shared history. These connections enable us to create lasting change, empowering communities and embracing the diversity that unites us all. Tanggio tumas an iu gat naes day (thank you very much & have a nice day)!

We're so proud to have sponsored our first e-Waste Drop Off Day in collaboration with Echo. Last weekend, a whopping 12,778 kilograms of e-waste was dropped off by Aucklanders at Go Media Stadium, home of the mighty One NZ Warriors. That's a heck of a lot of waste that has been diverted from landfill! Our desire to sponsor this day was driven by our sustainability kaupapa. Limiting e-waste is one of our five most significant sustainability issues, and we’ve long aimed to recycle at least 95% of network waste. By sponsoring this e-Waste Drop Off Day, Kiwis had an opportunity to dispose of their unwanted tech and electronic equipment, for free! This event was about us playing our part in ensuring that waste is disposed of responsibly.

Connectivity is super important for helping respond to safety incidents and calling for help. But many parts of the country currently lack cell phone reception. Whether you are out on a boat this summer, or tramping through our beautiful countryside, Kamile Stankute, Public Policy Advisor, explains this new Starlink Direct to Mobile service will be a gamechanger for One NZ customers. Initially it’ll launch with text only, and our teams are out testing this now. Find out more at https://lnkd.in/gpz9VSMX

We love being among the first telcos globally to offer our customers awesome connectivity solutions. Last week EonFibre began deploying Ciena’s WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) to support network resiliency and availability and is among a handful of telcos globally to be the first in the world to do so! This advanced technology will enable EonFibre to double traffic capacity on parts of its network to 1.6Tb/s for each wavelength deployed compared to the previous technology generation. As data use continues to surge with AI applications becoming mainstream, the role of resilient and flexible network infrastructure becomes critical. With WaveLogic 6, EonFibre is building an AI-ready network, capable of handling the massive datasets required. #AItelco #digitalinfrastructure

We take the fight against fraud seriously, with individuals from One NZ and our security partner DEFEND working around the clock to try and keep our customers safe online. This #FraudAwarenessWeek Jack Tye, One NZ Risk and Compliance Manager shares an update on an important new tool against fraudsters – biometric identity verification. “Your personal identity is like the key to your financial life - it must be fiercely protected. That’s why we’ve introduced biometric identity verification for customers applying for interest free payment plans. “Whether you shop with One NZ online, over the phone, or visit us in one of our stores, it’s a simple and secure process, with customers prompted to verify their identity using a valid passport or driver's license.” Through advanced facial recognition technology, the system matches the customer's live image with the photo on their provided identity document. The entire process typically only takes a few minutes. Biometric verification tool is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance customer protection and maintain a safe business environment and to combat the growing issue of online fraud.
