About us
Patton Engineering Ltd is Hawke’s Bay’s premier engineering company. At Patton Engineering Limited we focus mainly on structural steel fabrication and erection, as well as mechanical maintenance projects for a variety of medium to large Hawke’s Bay businesses. The latter utilises not only our fabrication and machining workshops but also significant mobile resources for on-site works. Our full-service offering encompasses all aspects of structural and project works from design for both mechanical and structural engineering, through to procurement, completion, and commissioning of project works. Our workshop capabilities include aluminium and stainless steel fabrication, light and heavy fabrication of carbon steel structures, precision and heavy-duty machined components – all of which are completed by a comprehensive range of in-house surface treatments and finishes by our sister company Hawke’s Bay Sandblasting. We are accredited with AS/NZS ISO 3834 certification for quality systems for our welding, and we have three in-house welding inspectors qualified to AS/NZS 2214. This allows us to do in-house and on-site visual inspections as well as being able to write and qualify our own bespoke welding procedures to suit any application, and specific codes. We are currently engaged in training for in-house Magnetic Particle Inspection of welded structures and components. As part of our site erection and mechanical maintenance works, we regularly travel out of Hawke’s Bay, having completed works as far afield as Wellington, Gisborne, Taupo, and South Auckland. We are well equipped for all types of remote works, under all types of conditions, and at all hours. We have also fabricated structures which have been shipped throughout the South Island, and to off-shore destinations such as Australia, North America, and American Samoa.

Our Patton team have been busy with the structural steel, forming the bones of the new purpose-built facility for Vulcan Steel here in Hawke's Bay. Totalling around 82 tonne, this structural steel frame will eventually transform into a large high stud warehouse, including a gantry crane and office facility, which will support Vulcan in their distribution of steel and other metals across the region. Our man Narrow is leading this one, stay tuned for progress! #engineeringsolutions #engineeringnz #structuralengineering #hawkesbay #pattongroup

Powerhouse partnership 💪 Last year our Patton team began work on the brilliant Hyde Lane apartment complex in central Wellington. Led by CMP Construction Limited, this project is a great example of how Patton Group collaboratively delivers unbeatable execution from concept to completion! Our Patton team worked on the structural steelwork and Steel E.D. & Patton completed some of the finer details which is highlighted in this entranceway - we did the steel posts and S&P crafted the gate and also the signage. 🙌 #pattongroup #hawkesbay #wellingtonnz #engineeringsolutions #diversifiedengineering #engineeringnz

Looking back to a brilliant weekend of singing, dancing, eating, drinking, bowling and lots of golfing at The Porangahau Country Club's largest fundraiser of the year! The Friday started with a junior tournament which was sponsored by BA Sprayers, Dulux, Strumis, Special Tee Golf and Steel & Tube. We had a fun bowls event for sponsors - the largest so far since we've been sponsoring the tournament with 30 players. It was a great afternoon, followed by some fantastic steaks back at the club rooms. On the Saturday we had 128 players followed by an amazing dinner by Coastal Catering, and prize giving, as well as some great prizes in the auction such as a shirt signed by Lydia Ko, Hustler Quick Hitch, rounds of golf at Hastings, Wairakei and Cape Kidnappers. Then to finish it all off 'Tonys Place' had everyone singing their hearts out with the brilliant karaoke set-up! A great weekend had by all with a fantastic $31k raised! #engineeringnz #engineeringsolutions #hawkesbay #PattonGroup

Project throwback - Elephant Hill Winery Elephant Hill has become one of Hawke's Bay's most iconic wineries with it's unique, tarnished copper facade. Beginning as a green-field site upon which Patton Engineering in association with Alexanders Construction, erected 600mm diameter columns and huge 30m rafters to form the skeletal structure for this striking establishment. Roof components were assembled at ground level in segments and then lifted into place during multi-crane lifts. A very high-specification paint system was applied, not only due to the aggressive coastal environment, but also for aesthetic reasons as the final colour needed to blend effortlessly with the tarnished copper building cladding materials. The owners residence, which was built to overlook the winery formed part of the project, and also retained the high-specification copper appearance in its surface treatment finishes. This stunning winery is now on the market! #pattongroup #pattonengineering #engineeringnz #engineeringsolutions

By embracing innovation and investing in the latest technology, we save time and reduce costs for you, all while delivering the highest quality results. The Peddinghaus Corporation PeddiWriter automatic layout marking machine is the first of its kind, and has already achieved unprecedented success in the steel industry. 10x faster than manual layouts, the PeddiWriter automates and accelerates the layout of structural sections, with two completely independent torch assemblies, allowing the PeddiWriter to operate at rapid speeds, far surpassing carbide scribing. #pattongroup #pattonengineering #engineeringnz #hawkesbay
