The creative process starts with an idea, and we had the privilege of partnering with renowned North Shore artist Greg Straight to transform that idea into reality. The result? Two stunning beehives that are not only works of art but also homes for two rescued bee colonies. Greg began with a simple stencil, and through his use of bold colors and playful nature-inspired design, he brought these hives to life. His vision celebrates the bees and the essential role they play in our ecosystem, while adding a splash of colour & fun to Smales Farm. But these hives are more than just eye-catching, they’re vital. Rescued by Bees Up Top, these buzzing residents contribute to pollination and biodiversity, helping sustain both Smales Farm and the wider North Shore community. What an incredible night we had at our annual BOO:HIVE event, a celebration of creativity and community, exclusive to our B:HIVE members at Smales Farm. From a creepy journey under a bed, to fishing for bones, lifesize coffins with scary encounters, and enchanting undersea grottos - every space showcased the wild imagination of our members. BOO:HIVE is just one of the unique benefits of being part of the B:HIVE community, where creativity, collaboration and connections thrive. A huge thank you to all our members who made this event frightfully fun. Some teams work full time in the office, others rotate teams (sharing desks) so as to maximise cost efficiency of space. A number of hybrid models are at play, some members have half of their team “in office" and others fully remote - a couple of organisations in B:HIVE work largely remotely, whilst using the office as a space to "come together" as a team for connection and celebration. We are always inspired to see the different approaches to work models.
