I guess either the auto white balance was doing it's thing or my eyes are just super sensitive to subtle changes (more obvious when I tested with a mirror). Super enthusiastic about one of my lifelong interests, the art & science of colour. Here, excited about my first ring light & the colour temperatures of light (which affect colours). I am an artist with a rusty science degree (analytical chemistry) & rusty graduate teaching diploma (high school science & chemistry). Don't have capacity to work fulltime & no longer work in those fields, but I get super excited about colour. Pretty sure my mood is moderated elevated in the video. Indicators of elevated mood (bipolar disorder) include talking faster, tangents, sleep deprivation as goal oriented about my projects. Also more expressive & animated than my usual flat affect & someone monotone voice. Come across as passionate. Will be exploring more about the science & art of colour. Been knocked around by flu and now post viral bronchitis. Managed to do 2 paintings in November, despite this. Prints of "Kiwi Haven" are now on my website www.soarpurpose.nz/shop Name is because the painting is inspired by an area where kiwi live. Yet, unlikely to see one. #artist #NewZealand

One of my longtime (lifelong) interests is colour. Which is actually one of the reasons I did a chemistry degree plus I am an artist. Never been much interested in fashion though & don't like clothes shopping. Finally replaced my colour swatch which is supposed to make clothes shopping easier. Lost the original one years ago. I was skeptical about the idea that artists tend to paint in their colour "season". I was typed as a "deep autumn" decades ago. Also lost the swatch years ago. Basically, suit more deeper & richer colours, warm to neutral. Avoid pastels. Finally bought a new swatch (Color Me Beautiful NZ). Turns out my 2 metaphorical self-portrait kereru paintings are in the deep autumn palette. From an artist's perspective, I had painted with mostly warmer colours for one & mostly cooler for the other, reflecting mood & metaphor. I was surprised the cooler one was still "in palette". Haven't compared with my other paintings yet but I rarely paint with pastels. I don't actually like clothes shopping & don't buy clothes often. Turns out my wardrobe is mostly "deep autumn" palette. I just avoided pastels. I am skeptical of online analysis, as apparent colour can change a lot with lighting & auto balance on cameras. #colour #season #palette #artist #mood #paintings

Updated my art photo album with some paintings from the past year. Phone has altered how some of the colours look. I find it to be a handy reference along with my art journal, for example when deciding on a palette. Updated my website with fine art prints of my most recent original paintings, inspired by photos taken during walks. "Summer Splash" Eastern Rosella in a rockpool.
