  • Meet Jenny, a theatre nurse at Southern Cross Hamilton Hospital and the 33rd nurse in her family—a legacy of care that runs deep. For Jenny, nursing isn’t just a profession; it’s part of her DNA. With over 30 years of experience, her journey has taken her across public and private sectors, seven years at a large hospital in Pittsburgh, and time as a vaccinator during the pandemic. Since joining Southern Cross in 2022, Jenny has been inspired by the supportive work culture. “It’s important to feel like you make a difference, that staff are valued, and achievements are recognised.” We’re proud to have Jenny on our team, exemplifying the values that make Southern Cross Healthcare a place where both staff and patients thrive. #SouthernCrossHealthcare #HealthcareHeroes

  • As we wrap up 2024, we want to give a quick shout-out to the dedicated people working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure we deliver safe, high-quality, compassionate care every day. 💙 This year, we welcomed 27 new "Speaking Up for Safety" instructors, empowering staff, to raise concerns and foster a safe, supportive environment. Our teams also acted on consumer feedback, improving care with every insight, and championed the "Take a Moment" hand hygiene campaign, reminding us that even the smallest actions can make a big difference to our patients. We appreciate those who engaged with our Executive Leadership Team during leadership walkarounds to identify and address safety hazards and issues in real-time, ensuring that potential problems are resolved before they escalate. To everyone who has quietly and diligently worked to enhance patient safety and care — thank you. Your commitment, compassion, and continuous drive to improve truly makes all the difference. Chief Strategy Officer | Non Executive Director | Catalyst For Better Care | Health Industry Mentor | Dad of Daughters

Rounding out the week with the Southern Cross Healthcare Directors and Executive visiting our Ormiston Hospital team and newest development in South Auckland. Touring the hospital reminded me of what I love about us as a group, we look for ways to do things differently, better, big and small. A nice example is moving past plain “clinical white” walls, and adding more humanity / nature to clinical areas that can often be so foreign to patients. Thanks for having us Deb Boyd and the Ormiston Hospital & Healthcare team, best Friday afternoon in ages.
