We were honoured to be invited to celebrate a major milestone at Hōhepa Wellington over the weekend—the opening of four purpose-built homes at their Otaihanga site on the Kāpiti Coast. Studio Pacific Architecture is proud to be involved in the future masterplanning of the Otaihanga site, designing a landscape that reflects the spirit of the community and enhances the beauty of this new development. We look forward to seeing how these homes will positively impact the lives of their residents and the broader community. Congratulations to Hōhepa Wellington and all those involved in making this vision a reality! 🎉
🎉 A Major Milestone at Hōhepa Wellington 🎉 On Saturday, we celebrated the official opening of four new homes at our Hōhepa Wellington site in Otaihanga, Kāpiti Coast. As a small disability provider in the Wellington region, these homes have only been possible due to the very generous support of Dorothy Spotswood. Dorothy’s contributions have enabled a number of transformative projects at Hōhepa Wellington since 2018. These four purpose-built homes will allow us to continue offering individualised, holistic support to people with intellectual disabilities — helping each person grow, learn, and reach their full potential. What an amazing celebration it was on Saturday! We were surrounded by people we support, family, friends, staff, tangata whenua, and tradespeople involved in the construction, as the homes were blessed. www.hohepawellington.com #HōhepaWellington #everylifefullylived

We're excited to share the latest progress on the Kāpiti Coast District Council’s Te Ara Whetū, the new library for Waikanae. With concept design now complete, we're moving into the next stage, where ideas continue to evolve and take shape. Collaborating closely with Te Ātiawa ki Whakarongotai has been central to this journey, embedding their cultural narrative into the design to create a space that reflects identity, belonging, and connection. Te Ara Whetū, meaning The Path of the Stars, will provide a warm and inclusive space for all, fostering connection, learning, and creativity. We’re excited to see how this library will grow with the community and create a lasting legacy for future generations. Palmerston North Airport is set to undergo a transformative redevelopment, with a new $40M terminal designed to future-proof the airport for growth and operational resilience. Featuring a mass timber structure, the upgraded terminal includes three functional zones: a western end for baggage handling and airline offices, a central space with check-in, lounges, retail, and dining options, and an Eastern Wing for arrivals and baggage reclaim. With construction beginning next year and completion expected by the end of 2026, this new facility will enhance passenger experience and serve as a welcoming gateway to the Manawatū region that represents its strong cultural heritage and diversity. We are honoured to be the architectural team behind this project, working alongside Rangitāne o Manawatū and the wider team to deliver the new terminal. Yesterday we marked International Day of Climate Action by coming together in the name of Demystifying Carbon! 🌏 These sold-out workshops saw 140 participants registered at five locations across the motu, with members upskilling in life cycle assessments and their carbon literacy. Te Kāhui Whaihanga NZ Institute of Architects' Strategic Sustainability Advisor Rachel MacIntyre says advocacy in this space can take on many shapes and forms. "The Institute is upskilling members despite the current legislative limbo. We're future proofing our architects to be ready for change and empowering them to have conversations on carbon at the early design phase. Collaboration is key, with carbon-literate practices and members supporting those not on the carbon literacy journey yet. As an industry we will need to collaborate to tackle the challenges ahead." A huge thanks to industry experts for sharing their time and knowledge - Emily Newmarch (WARREN AND MAHONEY), Tayla Lindsay (Studio Pacific Architecture), Helen Schofield (Stephenson & Turner ), Sian Taylor (Team Green Architects), Chris Dopheide (WARREN AND MAHONEY), Daniel Fernandez Gonzalez (Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities), Francisco Carbajal (Capana Group), Elrond Burrell, Tim Ross, Shana Payne, Nathan Edmondston, Arthur Lee (Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust), anne salmond (Salmond Architecture), Carys Collins (Fineline Architecture), Min Hall, Fiona Short (WARREN AND MAHONEY), Ben F.
