It is with deep sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Kīngi Tūheitia Pōtatau Te Wherowhero VII, the Māori King. Our hearts go out to the royal family, the Kāhui Ariki, and all those within the Kīngitanga movement. As a collective rooted in Mātauranga Māori and diverse cultural perspectives, we know the profound impact of this loss on Aotearoa New Zealand. Kīngi Tūheitia's leadership and dedication to unity have been instrumental in shaping our national identity. In this time of mourning, we invite all New Zealanders - both tangata whenua and tangata Tiriti - to reflect on our shared journey and the values that bind us together. May we honour Kīngi Tūheitia's legacy by continuing to work towards understanding, respect, and collaboration across all our communities. Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui. Be strong, be brave, be steadfast.
