  • 🌐✈️ Bringing international back to Hamilton Airport!   Our team was proud to take part in a dynamic panel discussion at the recent NZ Airports Hui 2024. We shared our experiences and insights into the journey of bringing back international services to our port with Jetstar, and the opportunities and challenges that presented. We went behind the scenes on the strategy, operational and infrastructure work we’ve done so far to make this milestone happen and discussed what the consumer experience will look like when flights to Sydney and the Gold Coast take off in June next year. We also looked at the economic drivers that allowed this project to come to fruition: our 10-year income diversification strategy; regional and economic growth, economic benefits for the region and so on.     The conversation highlighted too, the collective commitment that came from everyone involved to get this complex negotiation over the line; from the airline, the seven border agencies, MPs and cabinet ministers, to name a few of the parties. A huge thanks to Billie Moore of the NZ Airports Association; not only for her knowledge and assistance with the project and negotiation process, but for expertly facilitating our panel discussion. Plaudits too for a truly fantastic NZ Airports Hui 2024 experience – we were extremely proud to be the host airport – and of course, we were delighted to have taken a win in the Sustainability Initiative of the Year and the Airport of the Year (medium airport) categories. Here's to exciting trans-Tasman journeys ahead! 🛫✨

  • As proud hosts of the NZ Airports Hui 2024, we have some exciting news to share!  Last night, at the Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony for our industry, we were super-proud to be awarded a win in the following categories: ·        Sustainability Initiative of the Year (medium airport) ·        Airport of the Year (medium airport) This was a very proud night for the Hamilton Airport team: being recognised by our peers on our ‘home turf’ made it extra special. The Gala Dinner was Hobbiton-themed (shout-out to the Hobbiton™ Movie Set crew!) and our team really entered into the spirt of the evening and dressed as Hobbits – hence the Hobbiton-themed photographs!   Special thanks to the following people for being a part of the Hui and our journey: ·        Mayors Paula Southgate, Jacqui Church and Adrienne Wilcock   ·        Sean Murray ·        Our board: Barry Harris, Anna Cassels-Brown and Renae Smart.  ·        Norman Hill, Te Raumako Karena and Piripi Matika who opened the Hui with a mihi whakatau.  And finally, to the amazing team at NZ Airports Association for putting on an incredible Hui 2024.
