About us
We’ve been helping New Zealanders find the right financial solutions to suit their lives since 1861. We first opened back then as The Bank of New South Wales, and then changed our name to Westpac in 1982. Along the way we’ve grown stronger by joining forces with the Commercial Bank of Australia and Trust Bank – to become Westpac New Zealand Limited. We bank all sorts of people and businesses – from young children, to first home-owners through to big corporates and the New Zealand Government. Nearly a quarter of all Kiwis bank with Westpac, so we’ve got great experience and knowledge to draw on when it comes to helping people with their very first bank account, all the way through to their retirement. With more than 200 branches, and nearly 500 ATMs, we’re one of New Zealand’s largest banks. We provide a full range of banking and financial services for personal, business and agribusiness banking. Huge shout out to Westpac’s Steven Dyhrberg and Kirstie Wardle who used a combination of Wellbeing Leave, Volunteer Leave and Sports Representation Leave to facilitate the WMH Masters Hockey World Cup in Auckland! Steven, our Porirua Bank Manager, umpired matches just a week after completing the Napier IRONMĀORI triathlon. Kirstie, a Senior Manager in our Human Resources team, used Volunteer Leave to act as a “technical official” – timekeeping and keeping score. The WMH Hockey World Cup saw about 140 teams from 16 nations and organisations descend on Albany for “two weeks of very long days, very little sleep and a lot of running around”, Steven said. “I want to say it VERY loudly and proudly that I could not have done this without the support of Westpac's #WorkPerks by granting me NZ Representative leave,” Steven said. “There are so many wonderful ways our company supports us and helps us do amazing things, be the very best we can be and allow us to participate beyond ‘just working’." All Westpac staff get five days of Wellbeing Leave and two Volunteer Leave days per year. Sportspeople representing New Zealand can get up to 15 days per year to pursue their goals. Congratulations Steven and congratulations Kirstie! #TogetherGreater #WestpacDoubleYou Cat Feaunati Helen Ryder Vaughan Biggs Marc Figgins

🚨 🚨 For many young Kiwis, the season of discounts and deals comes with a hidden cost: the dreaded “spending hangover.” Research shows younger New Zealanders are particularly vulnerable to overspending, often struggling with the aftermath once the sales are over. 💸 That insight sparked something for us. To truly make a difference, we knew we had to show up differently. Enter Black Friday Hangovers—our bold new campaign aimed at empowering young Kiwis with tools to make smarter financial decisions in a way that feels relevant and relatable. 👀 You may even spot some of the creative in market – it’s a fresh approach, reflecting our commitment to doing more than just being a “bank” and to supporting younger generations in navigating the unique money pressures they face today. 🙌 #TogetherGreater #FinancialEmpowerment #BlackFridayHangovers Sarah Hearn Sarah Williams Nileema Allerston Louisa Golding Allie Buczkowski Georgia Livingstone Joanne Palmgren Olivia McLean Andrew Becker Pip Mearns Charlotte Sangster Lizanne Laycock Courtney Wright Heidi Tacbian Joash Dass Miria Royal Peter M. Equity and inclusion are incredibly important to us at Westpac, and we’re delighted to have just been reaccredited with the Advanced GenderTick. One of the areas the GenderTick measures is equal pay and we recently worked with the Manatū Wāhine Ministry for Women, New Zealand to share our experiences of measuring and reporting on our gender pay gap. This week the Ministry launched its new gender pay gap toolkit and guidelines, which will help companies throughout New Zealand to follow the same standards and support improvement in this space. We welcome this launch and are committed to continuing to work hard to close the gap.
