Having a seat at the table has been a great start - but if we want to really shift the dial and show the industry that we are ready to 'play with the big boys' then maybe we need to build a whole new table for everyone to sit at as equals. What do you think? #WomenInTrades #CareerJourney #IndustryInsights #nzwomenintrades #TrailblazingTradeswomen #EmpowerWomenInTrades #BreakingStereotypes #InspiringWomen #BuildingFutureHer #BreakingBarriers #WomenRockingtheTrades #tradeswomenofig

Knowing where the nearest McDonalds toilet is or holding off until you get home is a reality for many tradies. Toilets, loos, porta-pottys—whatever you call them—adequate ones are often seen as an unnecessary additional expense on construction sites. If they are on-site, some of the worst ones haven't been emptied or cleaned for months, leading to unsanitary conditions that compromise the health and hygiene of ALL our tradies. 😷 🤢 We’ve heard countless stories from tradies about dealing with filthy, poorly maintained porta-loos with inadequate sanitary disposal options. Holding on until they get home or disposing of sanitary items in skip bins —this is an ongoing health issue for everyone on site, regardless of gender. One company is helping by launching its new Washroom Care initiative. This initiative combines period and incontinence care products and advocates for equal rights in access to period and incontinence facilities for everyone, regardless of age or gender, while at their place of work. We’re proud to have our very own Zoë Taylor presenting on this critical topic at Rentokil Initial New Zealand's webinar on August 15 at 1pm. 🔗 Register Now: https://lnkd.in/gRm6mBVG #WomenInTrades #HealthAndSafety #WorkplaceWellbeing #Webinar

Last week, we teamed up with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce to bring CareerFest to inform and inspire rangitahi and careerseekers about the Construction, infrastructure and Tech sectors. It was an epic day full of enlightening conversations. A massive thank you to the exhibitors who supported the Women in Trades NZ side of the event. Despite the tough times, with some companies even undergoing hiring freezes and restructures, you still gave your time to showcase your industry. We'd also like to extend our gratitude to the event sponsors Hutt City Council and Jobs and Skills Hub. Also national sponsors KiwiRail and EQUANS. Thank you to the amazing team at the Chamber and the others who helped make the event a success. Thank you to Colleen Upton ONZM, who spent the morning with us, encouraging attendees and describing the realities of plumbing. Special thanks to Rentokil Initial New Zealand for supplying the event with free sanitary items ❤️ The more conversations we have about supplying sites with sanitary goods and ensuring decent bathroom hygiene for everyone, the better! More details to follow about their upcoming webinar with our very own Zoë Taylor presenting.
